again, this is something that goes both ways.
say for instance a gentleman emails me inquiring about an 8pm visit. to begin with, on a weekday i am more than likely not going to even respond until 6pm since i work a full time professional 9-5 job. this is something stated explicitly on my web page so he already shouldn't expect a reply until then if he is emailing me earlier in the day. if i reply that i am available and i haven't heard back from him within an hour or so i am going to assume he is no longer willing or able to visit at the time he specified.
obviously, if someone is serious about wanting to see me they are going to be awaiting my response and i don't think it is unreasonable on my part to be expecting them to do so for at least up until an hour before the time they inquired about.
once a visit is scheduled i will call to confirm, usually 30-60 minutes prior. if there is no answer the first time i will call again a few minutes later and if there is again no answer i will also assume he is no longer willing or able to visit at the time he specified. this is also something he would have been made aware of when scheduling with me.
i also don't schedule visits for "around" a certain time. if a gentleman can not commit to a specific time when he contacts me then all i can do is suggest he try me again later when he can commit and if i am still available i will gladly try to accommodate him.
it is perfectly understandable that one of us might have to cancel at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, but it is perfectly unacceptable for whoever must cancel to not notify the other person that they need to do so.
