Did your title say " Salvaged" ? .......... her insurace did call me Friday and tell me the total IS more than the car value. But that he would go and look at the car himself and find out for sure and get with me Monday. ------ The car at fair condition in Blue Book is 7,800. and the estimate he said was almost 5,000. What ????????? ------- NAH !!! Here is a picture of my car --- what do you guys think? Also the tire if you can see is cock-eyed. So the alignment was messed up. Or something there. And ofcorse the light . -- But what do you guys think? and what should I do? I DO want my car !!!!!!!!! -- its still powerful ! Should I fight that they should fix it and not place a big stamp on my title?
Let me know please, -- Iam still confused on how it all works.

Your poor FB! She was such a beauty.

I had a 240SX that I should have kept after an accident so I know how you feel.

BUT there is no way you will have the title say anything else but SALVAGED unless you pay for everything out of pocket.

I hope someone here has experience with this and gives you good advice.

Don't sign anything yet. Negotiate and tell them you may be contacting an attorney. The initial low ball offer they gave you should go up. Keep the car if you love the car. You may have to come up with some extra money to fix it. A salvage title means nothing if you want to keep the car forever, it only serves to notify the next buyer that the car was hit hard. I'm glad you were not seriously hurt.

The law dictates what they must pay. However, you can argue over the reasonable value of the car. If you were in the car and it there is any possibilty an injury occured then talk to a lawyer if they try to screw you.

My brother was in a wreck where they insurance company tried to lowball him so he went to an attorney. After the medical treatments, which he actually needed but was to macho to ask for otherwise, and everything the insurance company paid enough for him to get a better car.

Athena, is there anyone here that has a Body Shop that can help you with some estimates, at least? I used to own an automotive repair business/body shop...and, if the frame is screwed up, it can be costly...and, on older vehicles...the cost of repair isn't worth the value.

Hope someone can help you out. What about your insurance agent...can he give you some advice?

Athena, some good advice above.
Dont worry a bunch about the alignment, worry rather about the frame.
I know how you feel about the car and repairs might do but It will never be as good as it was. That is the salvage situation. If you keep it you will alway remember how it was. Want seem right not seeing the pretty blonde in the gray z spinning heads down **** ave.
We still need to do lunch.

Well so the car is a total loss to Progressive - but only 56% loss ...SO -- a Salvage stamp will not be placed on my title. It has to be 100% .
Anyway, -- they will not fix it so they gave me a check and I got my car. Its being fixed where Progressive took it ...........but i do get to take some $100s home for me .
So moderators -- you can remove that picture of my car before someone starts to stalk me. ;-))
..........So now the only thing happenig is that they noticed a big oil leak and acturally its been leaking for like a year ----- its not coming from the head or gasket ...the guy thinks its coming from the rear seal.
Does anyone know of a good -- no fucking with people -- mechanic shop to get that looked at and fixed?
Thanks to all for your help .....give me more !

Seems like it turned out better than we all thought.

I wish I knew a good mechanic for American made cars. (Know a Kick Ass guy for Foreign.)

Athena, while in the shop, have them also look at the motor mounts. Mine busted when I had a fender bender but didn't even know it. But i'm sure when you find a good mechanic, you'll tell him to look it all over.

I hope the place Progressive took it is a good body shop. PM me if you have any issues with the Progressive people since I have them as my carrier.
