This.
The book is really about both Kennedy and Oswald (the authors did a fine job of detailing Oswald's own history, which is compelling in itself...a lot of stuff went on in the 24 year's of that deranged kid's life). It would take a mini-series to tell both stories over the many, many years that the book covers. What's lost in the film is the character development, which is a strength of the book. Same issues were present with the Killing Lincoln film, and they will be even more pronounced when Killing Jesus is filmed. All 3 of the books do about as good a job as I could imagine in a couple or 3 hundred pages of developing the characters and showing what led the "killers" to do what they did. Most of that is lost (or will be lost in the case of Killing Jesus) in these short films.
