Idk, I said he needs more comprehensive plan and that's valid. Hickman agrees. He's got a 2 year road to travel to get back up and running.
And frankly, those wholesale prices are nice and all but the prices we pay at the grocery store are still way up over last year. And that's factually sound as well.
The monthly USDA report that just got published only accounts for half of Hickman's losses. So Jun is going to start with about 3 million layers lost.

Sometimes I feel like ketchup and other times it’s hot sauce on my scrambled eggs. Decisions decisions.
“By January 2025, during Trump's second inauguration, the average retail price for a dozen eggs was around $4.95, with some sources reporting prices as high as $6.55 for wholesale eggs. As of the latest available data in May 2025, retail egg prices had risen to a record high of $6.23 per dozen in March 2025, but by April 2025, they began to decline, with wholesale prices dropping to $3.30 per dozen and some X posts claiming retail prices fell to around $2.52 by late May 2025. However, these X posts are inconclusive without broader confirmation, and retail prices likely remained higher than wholesale due to delays in price transmission.”

Fun data point in the latest weekly USDA report.
https://www.ams.usda.gov/market-news...t-news-reports
To date, 35 million layers have been lost as a result of the virus.
3.8 million in AZ just this past month which is about 12% of the total losses.
Now, more locally, PA farmers since Jan accounted for about 6% of those avian flu losses and Ohio a whopping 39% due to multiple outbreaks including another 230k birds lost on May.
Just in case you're wondering why I focus on Hillandale Farms ($4.79) and Eggland's Best ($5.49)... the former is a major OH and PA producer and the latter is a blend of national producers

Oh I bet.
You recorded 4 years of egg purchases with Biden in office just for this moment to compare.

Daayyum, tommy! Stop over-paying. Send a PM to oldman2025 asking where is the closest Target store. Or Aldis. Don't go grocery shopping without consulting your hooker board first!

No, it's called shopping at the same store and buying the same products for years. Most people will pay attention to the prices of things. My $5.79 eggs aren't even close to the most expensive brand, either.

Sure. You memory holed 4 years of egg purchases down to the penny for the most you paid.
Thanks for the belly laugh. I imagine you had one as well as you were typing. Cheers.

This isn't quite the flex you think it is.
Of course I take note of prices of the items I buy. It's called fiscal responsibility. Most people do this. I'm not sure why you wouldn't. But hey, you do you.

You should have just taken the L instead of doubling down.
Please enlighten us with your other peaks and valleys in prices for standard grocery items during Biden’s term. You must have them down to the penny as well. I mean surely you just didn’t arbitrarily track eggs. I say it’s worthy of a new thread.
The whole egg price thing was always a nothing burger but the lefties needed some form of poking 47. I actually did not have scrambled today, 2 very well priced sunny side up eggs. Delish and prices should only go down from here.

You may yawn, but they have to find a replacement source for lost production of 750,000 eggs per hour. Not for a week or a month... but for the next 2 years.
Granted some natural churn in there but that's a lot of supply to pull out of the supply chain on a moment's notice
