Back in the day, at my high school, we had pick up trucks in the parking lot with gun racks and rifles in them. Never had a shooting.
We had a team in my high school. Carried a Savage rifle (in a locked case) on the bus and stored it in my locker, as did the others. Nobody died, but then again it was a time of sanity. Which bathroom to use was never in question.

NRA lifetime member.

you do realize that NRA is a single issue oriented organisation.

What does abortion matter in this discussion of the NRA??
Of course I'm pro abortion. In what universe would someone else have control over MY uterus?? Crazy.

Proud owner of a little tiny very cute purse gun. And a glorious beautiful Glock 9 semi for home defense. Of course I'm certified and go to the range as often as I can. My ex husband was a cop and I learned on his 357 Magnum. And even his 44 on rare occasions. But it hurts my shoulder.

Oliver North is a man of Honor. Like him or hate him, he stuck by his guns during the entire Iran Contra fiasco. Much like G Gordon Liddy did during the watergate days. He stood by his actions, did his time, and then told the whole bunch to kiss his ass.
I thought Ollie was made president and spokeperson.

I thought the vote was for VP, the position that actually steers the direction of the organization. There was a guy named Adam Kraus or something that a lot of people liked for the job over LePierre.

Yes, it is. If you have a lifetime membership you are automatically eligible to vote. But wasn't really complaining though.

The NRA came out very strong against accusations they were for Red Flag Laws in January. However in March, Chris Cox of the NRA made a statement saying they would support them as long as certain conditions were considered.

The very idea of Red Flag Laws is ridiculous and the NRA shouldn't have budged.

ETPROs allow for gun grabs and do nothing for public safety.

I'm considering GOA.org instead.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_flag_law

Opponents of red flag laws argue that such legislation infringes on the constitutional right to bear arms, the right to due process of law, the presumption of innocence, right to confront your accuser and object to ex parte hearings.[33][34][35][36][37][38] The National Rifle Association (NRA) had previously argued that red flag laws unnecessarily hamper the right to due process of individuals who are restrained by them,[19] and worked to defeat such legislation in Utah and Maryland.[39] In a March 2018 policy reversal, the NRA suggested that it might support such laws, but conditioned any openness to such laws on an extensive list of conditions,[20][39] including a judicial finding by "clear and convincing evidence" that the person poses a significant risk of danger.[39] The NRA did not identify any federal or state red flag laws that it supported,[39] and even after its March 2018 announcement continued to work to defeat or weaken red flag bills introduced in state legislatures.[40] In summer 2018, the NRA mobilized to defeat red-flag legislation proposed in Pennsylvania because it objected to allowing initial hearings ex parte.[40]

The NRA sends out a e-mail questionnaire to lifetime members asking if they approve of the Presidential choice. I suspect is 95%+ positive. You never hear of any disgruntled members.

I did not vote for the power position, which is the VP. Many members are disturbed by Wayne’s compensation. From what I gather, he has been compensated by over $8 million over the past five years.

People like Wayne because he is a bulldog in the pits. I think he has held the position for close to 20 years and while his methods do tend to irritate many, he does keep things in check.

I have been to two NRA conventions, but I have never met the man. I have been a lifetime member since 2000. The funny thing is about every three years or so I get an invitation to join the NRA. I drop them a line and tell them their record keeping sucks. It seems like even a longtime lifetime member is just a number.

I have friends that are members but think the organization has gone way too corporate, it’s all about the dollar. But it takes big bucks to fight the liberal/ Socialist/Progressives, who in truth want to dissatisfied America.

your reason for leaving it is at best weak that its stuck on one issue...

there's lots of 1 issue organization out there who don't care about other issues.... Pro-choicers come to mind as one example
