WD is obviously trolling us by ranking Lincoln last. Don't take the bait.
No I'm not trolling. I've been on record stating thru the years here that Lincoln is way over rated and Lincoln and fdr are both in my worst ever list.
I've also been on record for years here that Reagan adams and teddy are the best 3 by far.

You're serious? Ok then, give us all your thoughtful, elaborate historical justifications for ranking Lincoln and FDR at the bottom.

Or look up your old comments and kindly re-post them.

(This should be good.)

Why should I do your work? Those posts are all in these hallowed icky forums.
But to humor myself ill repost what I believe.
Fdr created the welfare state. Also he created big govt. That big govt was from the new deal. Again creating dependents on govt. His mishandling of Japan's rising power. He failed in getting America's military ready and entered ww2 damn near too late!
Now for the traitor lincoln. He failed to keep the US together. He wanted that war with the south. He drove the south to secede. He was a complete failure at all levels and domestic and foreign. Lincoln was a true liberal to the core. Yes he was republican. But the parties switched beliefs beginning in the fifties thru early 80s. So he wasn't really what we call a republican today. His crimes against his own people are unarguable. He is the most over rated politician in our history. Historians fail to teach the truth about Lincoln. He personally gave the orders to his generals in 63 to start burning towns in the south and destroy crops and farms. Lincoln was an arsonist treasonous murderer.
That's just getting started on that evil Lincoln. Lincoln is the worst president ever. Trumpf is second worst then fdr. Polk Jefferson grant and Jackson round out my worst list.
Ohh and do a little reading about lincoln and his wife not sleeping together! And why!

Excluding sir Tiny. Because he showed true knowledge of the Presidency.
Can anyone make their own list without using only modern day presidents?
All lists like these are speculative and opinionated. Remember the true metric of rating a Presidency is not basing today's beliefs to those of earlier times. Also remember a presidents greatness is seeing the long term effects of his policies long after his time in office.

Funny twist vita!
But yes Taft loathed being president.
He was a far right conservative and an introvert. It's sad he and teddy drifted apart.

What would you have done if you were Lincoln...let the country dissolve ?

He was coming up for election, and his position on slavery was well known. South Carolina attempted to secede because of that. They saw the future coming. That is hardly as you put it "he drove the south to secede". The southern supporters had been stealing supplies and goods destined for Fort Sumter for months to prepare.

With your view, you sound like you wanted slavery to continue.

Treason ?

Your other points discuss events during the Civil War. War is hell. Perhaps if McClellan had pursued Lee's army earlier, war tactics and strategies could have been different.

Lincoln pushed the south into war. In reality the csa was the united states. And the north was the insurrectionists who were treasonous. Don't bring race into this. Has zero to do with this.

Thanks a lot, VM.

I can't believe I actually gave one of your posts (#38) a like. When it comes to Lincoln, WD sounds nuttier than Abe's wife Mary. Just saying...

Hey WD, I hear Nikki Haley is looking to hire a campaign advisor, why don't you apply?

Hmmm... that sounds like a disclaimer. You know, like the one trumpy added to all of his Statements of Financial Condition. Just substitute "valuations" for "lists".

Back on topic - would anyone else care to vote for Lincoln as our worst President ever?

You are completely wrong. South Carolina attempted to secede from the United States.
I brought slavery into this - not race. Sounds like you wanted slavery to continue in the south.
How many thousands did the south have under slavery ?

Lincoln managed to keep the United States together as a nation, and effectively ended slavery at the same time.
Too bad the south started a war.

And you call him the worst President ever.

I don't think Lincoln was the worst- He certainly came in at a turbulent time though- I'd say Nixon was a shit heal for a few reasons. Watergate wasn't the worst thing he did. He opted for Nuclear High presssure steam vessel reactors vs. other technologies like thorium salt or low pressure systems; which have a much less negative impact if systems go awry. And he was a racist asshole, who was really paranoid too. I'd say the guy got just about every fucking thing he touched wrong. He epitomized why there needs to be a mental testing battery in order to be president- and to keep these narcissistic sociopathic assholes out of office - (insert TRump name) .

Its sad that some American's would like to see a second go-round of a civil war! Ginned up on hyperbole and rhetoric, instead of solutions and civility to each other.

I don't care what anyone weighs relative to POTUS rankings, but there are certainly a lot of them we could have / should have done better by voting accordingly. It's a demonstration of a broken political system run by zealots and extremist types of heretics. In that fact,- I'd say that the GOP has gone off the rails within the last 12 yrs.

It's as if they have gone into a cave, raised the ashes of Beelzebub and sharpened up their knives, drank the blood and came out as a bunch of nut-job evangelicals.- I'd rank #45 as the absolute worst president right below Nixon.

Biden hasn't made a right decision yet, and is clearly the worst President in the last 50 years.
I can certainly agree with that.
