Fuck the union. I left my local this year. This is just what I think of them and their 4%.

So, do you still enjoy the benefits negotiated by your union?

doesn't matter what the union does. money is fungible. you can file union paper work ti'll you're blue. the union dues is a rigged game.

see below article.

https://www.investors.com/politics/e...rst-amendment/

Unions might say that losing all that "fair share" money means they'll have to shift money from other activities to cover reduced collective bargaining dollars.

But that just underscores the fact that money is fungible. By forcing nonunion members to pay "fair share" fees, unions could free up substantial amounts of funds — that otherwise would have been spent on collective bargaining — to pay for political activism.

What's more, unions had fairly wide discretion over what counted as "collective bargaining," for which they could directly charge nonunion members.

unions? unions suck!! my cousin was a long haul union trucker. he figured out how to make way more money by undercutting the union. how? he was making about 60k long haul trucking. he realized that the union was not on;y capping him, but being inefficient handling trailers. just like someone else said, they would sit on their fat union asses and not do a damn thing until their union mandated breaks were over. so he invented a business. at https://www.pillsbury.com/, he saw that the union sat on their asses and would not "spot trailers" which were refrigerated .. meaning if they sat unattended they would spoil. and the truckers who waited on these union bums couldn't leave until the trailer was spotted i.e. parked and unloaded.

so ... he invented a business. he pitched pillsbury that he would wait onsite and when a truck came in. all they had to do was park it. he would then hook up to it, move it to the loading dock, and when it was reloaded, re-park it and manage the refrigeration system. this meant that the union trucker could drop off, then pick up a new trailer and leave in less than one hour, rather than waiting for those union bums. these unions bums would not do shit.

the turn-around was leas than 30 minutes. the union turn-around was over two hours. he charged Pillsbury $50 bucks a trailer to drop off, move it to the loading dock, then re-park it and check the refrig unit, all while the "union" trucker left in under than 30 minutes with a new load.

he made over $120k for 15 years until he retired doing that. way more than he ever made as a long haul trucker. because of union bullshit.

oh and then there is this ..

I would have to agree with you for the most part! But most of the truck companies that were Union have gone out of business due to the unions strangle hold that they had on them, the independent truckers, the ones who owned their own rigs thru the 70's did ok but Reagan's deregulation made it a lot tougher with high cost of fuel and the states started cracking down on enforcement of weight laws so they would not lose the gov. money for the freeways, I know this because I drove and owned my truck at the time. fuel went from 50 cents a gallon to $1.50 a gallon and loads that use to pay $2.00 a running mile went to 95 cents a running mile, when I sold my truck in 1985 and got the job I have now that is union but I leave in a state right that has a right to work law, so only about 51% of hourly people belong to the union. Union's are good for the most part for being able to get workers better wages, Health Ins. but I don't like the fact that they take union money from dues to help politicians get elected but it is what it is and for the record I belong to the union but I voted for Trump and most of my co-workers vote for Trump
