I think it started with the TV show M*A*S*H. Ladies started wanting a man like Alan Alda, the first metrosexual. But this is one of the few areas where I could be wrong.

there was a time when men wore wigs, ruffeld shirts, knickers, white hose and black shiny heels with big gold buckels ... and did very well in the Booty Dept
