As far as raising a kid alone, she doesn't have to. That's what a generous set of grand parents or aunts/uncles are for. Perhaps your many years in the hobby and living in independence and hiding from people you call kin has clouded your sense of reasoning as far as mother's options.

Personally, I've already been given the green light from some empty nesting family members of free and unlimited child care if I were to knock a woman up.
