So this client still stunk after taking a required shower? Did you get in with him and scrub him up? I don't understand how he could still be funky after taking a shower.

While I shower just prior to leaving for an appointment, I will always shower upon arrival at the ladies request (and hopefully she will hop in and gladly participate!)
However, in my travels around the world, I have also discovered a huge variance in attitudes about hygiene. A lot of it depends on the education and economy of the country (not making excuses, just making an observation.) since the entire country will have the same attitude, no one notices any problems as they all smell the same. So while he may have showered, he most likely did not use soap (same so-called toxic concerns) but just did a fresh water rinse. I have encountered this before, just cannot understand or explain it.
France, however, is the exception to this rule. I found them to have rather poor hygiene for being a so-called "first world" country.
In the Navy, those with hygiene issues we would issue a warning, if this did not resolve the issue then we had a "shower party" where the guest of honor was thrown into the shower (or sprayed down with a salt water hose down in the bilge) clothes and all and scrubbed with stiff brushes and comet, or some such cleaner. Usually didn't take more than one of these to get the point across!

I expect an adult to know how to scrub away the funk until they smell it's gone. And it is very possible to shower and still be funky. I saw a guy who came in and wrong in a way for assuming he was already fresh but upon taking his clothes of he smelled a little like he did #2 and didn't get it all so I asked him with the fabulous smile I have to please clean up before we begin and make it good. So no prob he goes to do his thing (I hear him scrubbing and all that) and comes out ready to go but oddly enough he still smells like freshly rinsed soap and a little bit of caca so I said um you might want to go back and do another once-over really good and he looked at me like I said something crazy lol but without any issue went back and did his thing again and came out and apologized and after that the smell was all gone.

The way you feel about 'eastern euros' is how many Oriental Asians feel about us American gaijins.

However, I have always wondered if I should re-aply the deodorant (I carry a small case with toiletries)? I always do but at times, I wonder if I should.
Any thoughts/inputs?

Like you, I like to take a shower when I first arrive. Unlike you, I do not put on deoderant afterwards. I'd think there's no bad smell to cover up coming fresh out of the shower and won't be for at least the next hour. Maybe I'm missing something?

I'm a baby powder freak, so anytime there may be a doubt that a gentlemen is fresh, I will suggest that we take a shower together, then a light dusting of baby powder to make things a little more silkier!

Khloe- no I don't smell my dogs ass either!! LOL! just a manner of speak. I too believe most deo can be toxic; but if people just do a little homework they ca find really good healthful products. I use a product line called Malin+Goetz (yes I am a bit metro)-the Eucalyptus Deo is amazing (boys you can pick it up at Barneys). It is expensive but when it comes to how we look; feel; and what we eat you should absolutely buy the best you can afford. that applies to who we hobby with too!!!

Damn, Damn, Damn (in my Florida Evans voice) can't believe these funky people! That's one crime that the death penalty should be used for! Hot Water mixed with soap that has a strong fragrance is all it takes to be clean geezz...
