That's correct. This board doesn't have any guidelines concerning the personal information of non-members. Post the alerts all you want...better make sure that they're not members first. If you can't do that, you may face the consequences of outing.



He could have done all he could do to keep that link from being posted by not posting his thread at all. His intention was to mention it, so they'd get outed, and people would get banned. As he said, his "plan backfired."

I agree that news reports of simple prostitution busts shouldn't be posted here. That's part of the hobby. But when other serious things come to light it changes the equation as far as I'm concerned. Like a history of burglarizing people's homes. That's a big deal. I'm sure guys who like to host would like to know if they're inviting a potential burglar into their home. For that reason I didn't have a problem with that particular news article being posted here.

Depends. Guidelines 1,3 and 4 are all judgement calls, meaning the moderator has incredible leeway to interpret how they get enforced.

If you look back at my posts, I never specifically called any one member a retard. I called groups of members retards. I called ideas retarded. I called imaginary people retards. To even think about invoking the guideline, I need to have directed that hostility toward a specific member.

Those three guidelines can be used to stifle any conversation on this board, if interpreted as narrowly as the guidelines allow. A good moderator doesn't stifle conversation. We're all grownups here. "Retard" has been posted over a hundred times in these forums, with over 70% of the times being directed at a specific individual. I never saw you complain in any of those circumstances.

granted i rather enjoy when i see our Texas friends come up to upset. The problem i have is that it had to take some one to come in and force the issue that should have been caught. something minor i could see getting missed but some thing this big is just nuts to be missed. now after almost 24 hours we have thread closed, people banned, and yet thread is still up.
