There was a point in time when the damn dam was thought to be in danger of imminent failure you stupid fuckhead:

They almost eroded the back of the emergency spillway, which could have allowed the entire lake to burst through and kill 200,000 people downstream. That emergency spillway is more than just an overflow, it is part of the earthen wall of the dam, which is holding up over 700 feet of water. It is an incredible weak point when water is flowing over it and eroding what is essentially a major part of the dam, another major portion of which is the concrete structure channeling the water to the powerhouse, and is being referred to incorrectly as "the dam", which is safe at this time. It is so safe that it would still be standing if the earthen part of the dam is completely destroyed and all the water washes out of the lake.

The main spillway has a huge hole in it that if it continues to scour the underpinnings of the main spillway it could also erode to the point of washing out the hillside holding up the earthen part of the dam, causing a catastrophic flood below the dam.

On the other hand, if they allow the damn dam to destroy itself, the salmon can swim upstream, so the environmentalists will be happy!!

How fucking stupid can you be? The concrete portion of the 770 foot tall dam is safe, so what? The "emergency overflow" was dumping water out of the lake over the tiny concrete cap onto a hillside of dirt 770 feet tall. That is part of the fucking dam structure, and if the concrete cap has the underpinnings washed away, the water would wash away the entire hill, leaving a river valley in place of the lake. Why the fuck do you think they evacuated 200,000 people in the middle of the night.

If you think it is safe, why don't you sleep downstream of it you miserable fuckhead?

I am conservative and have ALWAYS favored going after the companies that hire illegals instead of US citizens.

I don't care if housing prices go up. People can downsize to smaller houses anyway. There is no law that says everybody should get a 3300+ s.f. McMansion with 4-5 bedrooms and 2-3 car garage. 30 years ago, most families were content with 3 bedrooms, 1 car garage, and 2500 s.f. or less.

If that is the price we have to pay to properly pay American workers, then I am all for it. I will pay more for restaurant meals, too. Every American that cannot find a well-paying job ends up needing governments benefits, so we end up paying for them anyhow.

Flooding the market with cheap illegal immigrant labor helps only private companies looking to make a buck anyway they can. The rest of society picks up the tab.

You are an idiot.

No one says the DAM has to fail to cause a catastrophe. If the land below the emergency spillway continues to erode and them collapses, it will have the same effect as if the dam gave way. The lake will rapidly drain. That is why they are evacuating 200K people from Oroville area.

They won't be out of the woods until the next rainstorm passes, the lake level falls, and they repair the eroded embankment of the emergency spillway.
