I think what happened is unfortunate, particularly because his family was involved. Having said that, Beck, who preys on the ill-informed and fuels intolerance using lies and ludicrous Hitler analogies, should be shunned by anyone with a brain in their head for as long as he continues to do so.

On the evening of June 18, 1984, Berg was fatally shot in the driveway of his Denver town home by members of the white nationalist group, The Order. He died immediately. Ultimately, two members of The Order, David Lane and Bruce Pierce, were convicted for their involvement in the case, though neither of homicide.
Alan Berg's life and death were chronicled in the book, Talked to Death: The Life and Murder of Alan Berg by Stephen Singular. The book was an inspiration for the films Betrayed and Talk Radio.

Are you sure this is the best example to use? Conservative politicians and commentators are regularly attacked and harrassed. Glen Beck and Michelle Bachman are the two recent examples I can think of.
Using the article cited above should we infer that all conservatives belong to the white nationalist group The Order? Or is it possible that this white nationalist group is simply a group of thugs who really don't represent a mainstream political view?

Beck is an entertainer! Nothing more - nothing less! He is out to make as much money as possible. He has discovered that there are mega $$$$$ to be gained by being totally outrageous. Make no mistake, it is all about the allmighty $$$$$! If you believe otherwise, you apparently have no problem with going through life with little or no peripheral vision!
In the event you are unaware, those blinders you are wearing are like underwear. They need to be changed often!
As for Beck, I do not like him. To take it a step further, I do not like anything Beck stands for. In my opinion, Beck has an inconsistent and distorted message! But I clearly understand that Beck has every right in the world to be wrong. And he is about as wrong as it gets! Those who are foolish enough to follow him, do so at their own peril. From a personal perspective, I choose to distance myself from Beck and those like him. Incidentally, there are those like him on both sides of the political spectrum! In other words, he is not by himself! Unfortunately, they are all out to make $$$$$ off of the mindless!
With all of that said, I will defend to the death Beck's right to speak his mind as long as he does so lawfully!
Disclaimor: I am not yet convinced that Beck actually has a mind!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!!

I am a 61 year old man that grew up in the 50's in a very Republican family. We were just to the right of the John Burch Society. As an adult, I always voted Republican on most issues. However, lately I have been disenchanted with both the Republican and Democratic parties. Both sides are full of arrogant, self-serving politicians that care little for their country, but mostly what they can benefit by thier position. I grew so tired of the partisan politics. If one side could cure cancer and world hunger, the other party would find fault. Apparently I was not the only one that felt this frustration. The tea party sprang up all across the country almost by itself. Not everyone would agree with their position on all issues but it is alive today for no other reason but because our representatives forgot why they were there.
My best friend told me about Glen Beck a little over a year ago. I started watching his show on a regular basis. I find that he can be over the top at times and gets a little too dramatic, but he has been right on so many of his predictions. He predicted this years' turnover of power in the mid east almost a year ago. He brought to light many of the czars in the Obama cabinet and what they stood for. He talks of bringing back faith in our daily lives as the way to bring America back to the greatness it once was. You surely will agree that our nation is on the brink of economic disaster. He gives a common sense approach to solving that crisis. You don't have to agree with everything he says, I don't. But he does make sense on so many issues. We have had to listen to carreer politicians who spoon feed us a crock on a regular basis. How is that working out for us? Not very well apparently.
You may not agree with much of what he says, but suggesting that he is not accurate in his facts may not be true. Early into this thread, Kayla had issued a challenge to some of you. She had asked you to find a significant fact that he has stated that was not correct. I have heard several folks on here talk about what a liar Beck is but I have not seen where anyone has come forward with the challenge. It is easy to just sit around and tell us that someone has lied continuously, but it is time to back it up.

I find it weird that the people who were sitting behind Beck were somehow never captured in any of the photos because they were from various angles but it is somewhat obvious they have cropped out the people right behind them, maybe they don't want images of the person and her friends doing the "fake acrobatics"?
Note the tie in with the twitter post I linked to where the "acrobatics" are mentioned by the wine spiller?
Hey Juan, Kayla is STILL waiting for your list of lies that you and other claim Beck makes on a regular basis.

Overall I like GB.
Sometimes he did go to extremes with gloom and doom and conspiracy theories. Many times his shows were insightful ( not inciteful). He always told the viewers to do their own research. Too bad we don't have the size staff he does to fact check.
Like him or hate him, you have to admit he brought a lot of issues to the forefront.
At times I thought he was too harsh, but nowhere near as the dude at the other end of the spectrum, Keith Oberman. Now look at where both of these guys are. What really did GB in was when he called President Obama a racist and Fox lost a buttload of ad revenue for his show.
He's a little too ultra-conservative for me, but I think GB means well in his causes. I certainly wish him success in the future. At least he had the good sense to move to Texas.

keith olberman rocks. and rachel maddow too. and john stewart and stephen colbert. john stewart is one of the few that will actually invite people with completely opposite views and engage them in a civil intelligent discussion of the issues, unlike blowhards like bill oreilly who just berates and belittles those with opposing views. stewart btw had had oreilly on his show several times, and treats him far better than oreilly does those on his show.
JPdM
and seriously...does GB actually do any 'fact checking'?

I would also add Bill Maher to your list. He almost always has a strong Republican on his panel and he is not hesitant to criticize Democrats, including Obama. Bill Maher represents my position quite well. Not a Republican and not a Democrat, and not afraid to call out stupidity or weakness on either side of the fence.
To me, both sides are guilty of attack politics, but I observe that the left wages a far more intellectual campaign than the right.
Edit: I think Bill O'Reilly is the smartest pundit on the right. I listen to what he has to say because he's a smart guy and he doesn't say stupid things like Beck and Limbaugh do. He doesn't call Obama a Muslim and he doesn't use stupid Hitler analogies. O'Reilly's message is clearly tailored to appeal to a right-wing crowd for ratings purposes, but his points between the lines are worth paying attention to, in my opinion. The right wing media needs more smart guys like Bill O'Reilly and fewer nutjobs like Beck and Limbaugh.

Piers Morgan had Ann Coulter on his show and she exposed herself as a joke. He totally took her apart and turned her 'demon' perspectives right back on herself. She had no comeback.
