Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa was born in Syria in 1999. He is Middle Eastern. A child could understand that, why can't you?

And as to ISIS - I simply shared the news report that Biden has been briefed the Colorado shooter had ISIS sympathies, per WH official. If you don't like that, take it up with the White House official who said it

Asian isn't a nationality. Middle Eastern isn't a nationality. That's race. We can discuss ethnicity separately, however it's not what you're driving at.

But nationality is about where you're a goddamn legal citizen or national, not just about where you were born. The ability to change nationality exists via immigration. The ability to have multiple nationalities exists. Birthright citizenship or nationality based on being physically present in a country when you're born isn't universal.

Technically you’re correct. But when people are asked what their nationality is, invariably they tell you what ethnicity they are. When I’m asked that question I tell them Italian. Because that’s what they’re asking for. It’s semantics I guess. But when I travel internationally, I’m an American god dammit!
