It will come down to what the US Supreme court rules. If it rules that the 14th amendment applies to the presidency, then Trump, would not be allowed to hold office. What Colorado did, got the ball rolling to the US Supreme court

If done constitutionality there are no leagle challenges.
There is no need for due process of any sort, it is a formality, just the same if he was not 35 years old or a was a naturalized citizen.
It was created and used after the Civil War to keep former traitors from holding office in the very nation they traded against.
They disqualified and removed 14 or so sitting congressmen and senators all former rebels, most of high rank in the confederate army in the late 1860s using it.
And that is without any of them being convicted of any crime!
And if you recall in that war the rebels believed that the war had a great deal to do with states rights.
So in that reguard Colorado should have every right to protect itself from trump!
So your really reading this wrong, and now it is being said that 15 more states want to follow Colorado lead!

Bottom line: if Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution means anything, then trump is fucked. If his sham, illegitimate SCOTUS covers his ass and denies the 14th Amendment, then the entire concept of American democracy is fucked.

If you ask me, the fact that one of the two parties in this country have already attempted a coupe to undermine our democracy, it will never be secure until the GOP is dissolved.
Sure, there are some good Republicans, and there are certainly some traitorous Democrats, but the ratio of good to bad in the GOP is far higher than the other. The simple fact that they are challenging the call of the 14th, that Trump had no comment on if he would or would not abuse his power... Democracy is fucked. And if we just try to give them a light punishment, they will do nothing but kick and scream and make a scene while throwing state secrets all the way over to Russia and China just to spite the people who remain in charge
