I have studied quite a bit about WW1 and WW2, and that is not even close to a Nazi salute, the arm is straight and stiff, not like that picture shows at all.

This ain't hard to do, yet it seems to be very hard to do for some.

I think he made a very ill-advised gesture with a hint of trolling in it. To gin up attention. Because while he might be a genius he's also a man-child and attention whore.

That sticks for me in how he's chosen to defend it and what he didn't just come out and say.

It looks like somebody wanted readers to interpret something specific and predetermined. Post the whole video and not just the context you want. Be transparent and honest about it.

If Elon did a give a Nazi salute (he didn’t by the way), what would he possibly gain from it? Why would he be so open in public only not to own it later?

Trump is on record supporting Israel. Hitler obviously did not support Jewish people. There’s no logic to the conclusion some want you to interpret.
