So, lets try to disarm the people in the top ten cities in this country and see how that goes.
Do you know that in Switzerland they are required to have a functional assault rifle in each home and a few hundred rounds of ammo. How many mass shootings have they had? Same thing for Norway.
Folks say we should implement "common sense" gun laws. Well we could make ownership or mere possession illegal. They did pretty much that in Australia, UK and to a lesser extent, in Caneda. All the gansta thugs in LA, Chicago and DC would turn in all their guns . . right?
We could do that and all the currently legally owned guns in about any "red" state would be turned over by the citizens there . . .right?
So then, sidestepping the issue of repealing the Second Amendment through one of the mechanisms provided for in The Constitution . . .how exactly would that be accomplished?
well, apparently, that worked for them. what we are doing here isn't working for us.
stupidity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome..
the 2nd Amendment doesn't guarantee the right to rpgs or tanks. weapons of war should be reserved for...war. who knew?

Think of the non-gun things that are already illegal or strictly regulated; horrible drugs come to mind. "Human trafficking" for any purpose is another.
Sex work is essentially legal in Canada and the UK. Japan forbids guns to their citizens, but the sex industry is institutionalized and widely accepted there. The sane can be said for most other EU countries as well.
We could follow them along with their approach to the private ownership of firearms.
During the defund police hysteria of 2020 and the whole George Floyd thing, there was this cry for more social workers as first responders and a larger focus on mental health. Whatever happened to that from the progressive left?
Just post that you think Democrats suck. It would make more sense than bringing up George Floyd and taking a lame shot at the left (no pun intended considering the topic of this thread which is gun control.)
Too late for that cowardly kid. He doesn't need mental health assistance now; he needs euthanasia assistance that he will eventually get from his state because Florida has no problem putting rabid dogs down.
Kid lived with his parents. One was a sheriff. Sheriffs have guns (even Barney Fife had one. haha) This really isn't technically a gun control issue but a fucked up kid with mental health issues IMO.
Democrats as a whole do not "suck". Many policies advanced by Democrats, in my opinion, do however. This is not limited to the policies promulgated by Democrats. Plenty of Republican backed policies suck as well. The lifestyle I aspire to in my current retirement is at risk today. The Ukraine/Russia conflict is also a cluster-fk for example.
Including GF was not a comment on the man himself so much as it was a vehicle for bringing in the suggestions mad at the time to modify law enforcement to include social workers as first responders. That policy might work in some way but seems problematic to me.
After the amount of public discussion about social workers and psychiatric intervention back in 2020-'21, I ahve heard little or nothing from those who had previously been strong proponents.
Would a "Red Flag" restriction have helped in the FSU event? Should the shooter have had some sort of mandatory counselling or therapy? Is there a parenting issue there somewhere (does it matter?).
Let's all hold hands at ANOTHER vigil for shooting victims sing kumbyha and have a prayer. Never has worked.
Point is. If these weapons were banned and not available. These prayers wouldn't be needed.
Doing nothing and vomiting out da 2cd blah blah isn't working to prevent or help this situation.

But if you want REAL gun control, consider the Israeli Weapon Works (IWI) bull pup. I personally prefer the black one on the right, as I don't live in a desert.
Lot's of control, in a small and highly manageable platform.
