I've lost a lot of interest in both teams in the last few years, but the Royals even longer.

Hate to see them go for the money they brought into Jackson County but don't really care that their going.
The problem is timing and having to still play their respective seasons. A new stadium needs to be built first for Royals. That needed to start 2 years ago. It would need to be off site. Time has just ran out with new required leases on the horizon. I suppose they could extend a few years at arrowhead if royals finallly decided where to end up and that hasn't even happened.

So for Chiefs to stay at current location, like right now a Stadium for Royals needs to be built, that is 2-3 years, or lets say 2029 before it is ready. Then Demo kaufmann is a year, That's 2030. 3 years to build a new arrowhead, we are into 2033 maybe even 2034 when the next season comes around.

Leases are up in 2031 right? Like I said, all this hem hawing around has put both teams in a bind. The stadiums won't last another 25 years, they both have concrete issues. While safe for now, that just keeps getting worse.

I like that it was very good and thought out. It could all be done even if the team that stayed played in old stadium for one year maybe two before it was finished. Honestly it's not going to happen anyway. Royals decided a long time ago they are moving and I'm sure the Chiefs decided after Jackson County voted no on the tax extension.

Both stadiums have been there a long time and your right they have major issues right now that need fixed. You should see underneath them.

That sounds pretty good, I would go for that. "The Kansas Chiefs" I'll vote for that.

BD I think most Missourians are pissed, but at the people that are running everything. There is no reason that Missouri, Kansas City or Jackson County could have gotten of their collective asses and gotten something done for both teams years ago. I've seen this coming for a few years now that there was a possibility of them both moving.

Kansas is wanting business and is getting the the cities, people, government and businesses in the state online with the program.

Missouri just sits back with their head in the sand and reacts after the fact. Nobody knows what's going on or what to do that should know and be taking care of it.

I'm waiting for the Native Indians to start making a ruckus again about arrowheads, chiefs, and tomahawk chops.

I doubt they will drop the city out of the name. Technically they are in Kansas City still. Branding is probably the lowest on their list of priorities.

Will be interesting to see how it all shapes up. I can see a whole city being built around it. Think Lenexa City Center x10. Hotels, apartments, restaurants, car washes, grocery stores, exercise places, the list is endless of what could be built around it. Going to have new city services, fire, police, hospitals. This is all stuff that was never done in the current location and probably never would be. Chiefs had a plan for a fan experience if they got Royals space, but that is only game related stuff. Other than that much would be closed in the off games and seasons.

Yup...looks like it's...Kansas City
Exactly. There still in "Kansas city". And frankly if the Royals move to that 119th and Nall area do people really think they're going to change their name to the Overland Park/Leawood Royals? Just silly......

Pretty poor analogy though. The Titans were in Houston as the Oilers. The Cardinals were in St Louis. They both moved out of state and the Cards half way across the country. The Chiefs would still be in the "Kansas City metro" and its highly unlikely they'll want to piss off the fan base anymore than they already may have. I know name changes may create new merch opportunities, but I'd bet alot of people would be pissed to have to trash their old gear to buy something stupid like the Wyandotte county Chiefs. Be great for Rally House though....

Bill Bidwell didn't give a shit about what his team's home was called. He came to St. Louis from Chicago in the 60's. If I remember correctly when he moved to Phoenix, they were the Phoenix Caridinals and played in a NCAA stadium. Then the name change....

A record they hold is the most losses by a NFL francise.

Just a bit of History....
Houston Oilers became the Tennessee Oilers, then Tennessee Titans
The Racine Normals (1898) became Racine Cardinals, then Chicago Cardinals, then St Louis Cardinals, then Phoenix Cardinals, now Arizona Cardinals
Boston Braves became the Boston Redskins, then Washington Redskins, then Washington Commanders
Oakland Raiders became the Los Angles Raiders, then back to the Oakland Raiders, and now Las Vegas Raiders
Decatur Staleys became the Chicago Bears
Portsmouth Spartans became the Detroit Lions
Cleveland Browns became the Baltimore Ravens (1999 a new expansion team took the name Cleveland Browns)
Baltimore Colts became the Indianapolis Colts
Cleveland Rams became the Los Angeles Rams, then the St Louis Rams, and then back to Los Angeles Rams
San Diego Chargers became the Los Angeles Chargers
Dallas Texans became the Kansas City Chiefs
New York Titans became the New York Jets
Boston Patriots became the New England Patriots
Pittsburgh Pirates became the Pittsburgh Steelers

And btw, what's wrong with:
NY Giants and NY Jests both play their home games in New Jersey at the Meadowlands Sports Complex (which is owned by a NJ State Agency).
I guess being in the NYC metroplex counts for something.
A horse track, along with the football stadium and a basketball arena(closed). The original football stadium has been replaced by "Met Life" stadium in 2010 when the original football stadium was 40 yrs old. Note that Meadowlands is surrounded by 4 highways with direct exit & entrance ramps.

My point is that money talks and thus the moves and re-brandings (over a century of). As for the local Jackson County Sports facility, they dropped the ball big time. There is room enough there to put in a new Baseball Stadium and a new Football Stadium and then demo the old to get parking back. And there's Hwy 70/435 and 40 all on the edge of this.

The entire issue is money and the State of Kansas won.

Actually, it was originally Los Angeles Chargers, then San Diego Chargers, then back to Los Angeles Chargers.
