I haven't the thread already through so forgive me if this is a duplicate comment, but I've always thought the trick refers to hobbyists and providers alike. Urban dictionary confirmed this. IMO people get way too hung up on labels. I'm more concerned about the intentions and context of the word.

I don't mind the words hooker, whore, etc but I *do* mind trick oddly enough. I think it's incredibly disrespectful and crass. I call my clients "visitors", "clients", or "friends". Never trick, john, or anything of the sort. I can't imagine a situation where that would ever be okay.

The word John for some reason doesn't bother me.. As for "whore" or "hoe" well don't need to be a provider to be called that in a derogatory manner for a male or female lol

I always prefer to call the "Provider" "Sweety, Sweetheart, Babe". Because I am the one engaging the provider by calling up for a meet, Im the one that is willing to pay for their service.
