You need to read the book and the website. All those issues have been addressed by some of the finest economic minds in the world.

But I'll make you a deal. Let's enact the FairTax, just for two years. Then if it doesn't meet or exceed you expectations, you can always have double your corruption back with the status quo.

Obama will also revitalize the youth and minority vote and send them to the polls in droves!
John McCain had his clock cleaned by Obama because he can't debate. There were so many chances for McCant (I love that) to slam Obama, but he either did not see the opening or simply didn't take the chance.

As for the youth vote, I'm a teacher and the youth are no where near as excited this time out as they were last time. Granted, I'm only seeing a very small slice of the pie, but last time out kids were quite excited about the hope and change guy. They bought the rhetoric hook, line, and sinker. So far I'm not seeing that. In all honesty, the candidate the youth I am exposed to were excited about was Ron Paul.

The thing I like best about the Fair Tax is that everybody pays, crooks, drug dealers, foreign tourists that use our infrastructure, etc. No more loopholes, and April 15th will be just a date on the calendar.

Good point! There's an estimated trillion dollars in black market income that doesn't get taxed. Getting rid of the IRS is a no brainer. I'm amazed that people put up with a system that keeps them paranoid about being audited. Everyone knows someone who got screwed by the IRS. We waste hundreds of billions of dollars just in dealing with the massive amount paper work required by the income tax every year.

Unfortunately, that's the title of the essay. John Fund assumes that conservatives will take it with a grain of salt. We understand that smart Democrat is an oxymoron.

I really don't think the democrats have anything to worry about.

I too like the idea that everyone pays.

But ,,, how would the fair tax eliminate the black market. Seems like it would make it bigger?

Now,
Earn 1.00, keep 0.60
Buy soda for 0.50, pay 0.035 in tax on open market, pay 0.00 tax on black market

Fair tax system
Earn 1.00, keep 1.00
Buy soda for 0.50, pay 0.11 in tax on open market, pay 0.00 tax on black market

I see where with the FT I come out ahead, but in both, I'd still buy on the black market if possible.

I am a smart Democrat.

Smart enough to hate Barak Obama and vote for Mitt Romney instead.

To me it's not even about policy.

It's about character.

Read the website. You're not making sense. www.fairtax.org.
