My ECCIE Reviews

Pimps, robbers and drug dealers! OH MY!
I don't normally but I decided to chime in on this since it has gotten way off topic.
To the OP, it depends on how long you're going to stay, several places are pretty much with in walking distance but some can be a pain to get to.
I lived in this part of Austin for almost my entire life, I have walked and used public transportation quite a bit.
No I have never been mugged. No I have never been robbed.
The only thing I would say you would need a car for is convenience. There are plenty of us nice ladies who are more than happy to come and see you. The taxis are expensive and the public transportation here sucks.
Just my .02
I hope it helps a bit

I agree with you 100%.. that said, take into consideration the source making those suggestions.

plz keep IGNORANT comments to yourself and STOP complaining to the MODs that people are picking on you. Im NOT targeting you.. as I'll call out anyone on their IGNORANT behavior. You constantly make assumptions with NOTHING to back up your shit.. It's no wonder, nah, nevermind I'd be ignorant to assume you grasp anything i say.

It's sarcasm directed at people telling him to be afraid and to stay away from that part of town . Once again nice try! Read my reviews , AA , Asians , and Hispanics . I even suggested an Asian and Hispanic provider in the area to OP !

Joan
I have never visited you but you intrigue me.
You have that wild out of control passion about "stuff" that sometimes translates into a good date but a terrible relationship.
And I am the past master of terrible relationships. LOL
In this I agree with you.
Austin was not made for walking.
It is designed around the automobile. All Texas cities are so designed.
As for advising someone to walk from Double Tree to Sugars : Well it is not the best neighborhood. And although it is not a high Probability that there will be unpleasant things happen. There is a significant (IMO) Possibility that it could prove to be a mistake.
I wouldn't recommend it. I wouldn't do it myself. But if someone needs to get their man card punched they will probably be just fine.

Lolabrea01: I think there's plenty of hobbying going on during SXSW. However, it might be hard/expensive to find a room. Traffic and congestion from SXSW is limited to downtown.
Likeswimmingupstream: Double Tree is fine, except it's just off the I-35 service road. Most interstates are not that conducive to walking around. I'd get a car. It's a good, central location, close to downtown and UT and an easy drive to The Domain, or most other paces you want to go. Also easy to get to most of the strip clubs from there.
If you don't want a rental car, I'd suggest a hotel downtown, otherwise expect to spend $ on cabs. A rental will end up being cheaper.

I agree with harkontume, Joan reminds me of some of my most favorite destructive past relationships. I always enjoy seeing her posts!
As for actual thread content:
The entire Highland Mall area is bad news. Walking around there is a hysterically bad idea and incalls around there tend to be sketchy.
Sugar's has issues for many reasons. It should be *really* obvious why Joan knows more about that than most. I just don't like going there because I don't like the neighborhood but they have had lots of management turnover and lots of issues with keeping customers and the type of customers they want to attract. The SC forum has all the details if you're interested.
I'd be surprised if you could still book a hotel downtown for SXSW week, and if you can expect it to be very pricy.
Definitely get a rental car regardless unless you get a place downtown and never plan on leaving.

Play the sarcasm card to "save your ass" if you want but, this does NOT fix the fact that you made and continue to make IGNORANT responses.

Rick I thinck Joan is right. I wouldn't want to be walking around that part of the Vagina Triangle after dark. It’s a little crazy to say the least. Not so much for guys I would think. The Double Tree has lots of cameras and if you stay there and have to many guests, you'll get a visit my management. OK for the hobbyist but not so much for the higher volume provider. The La Quinta just south of the 183 on 35 has a manager who is running woman. Common knowledge so I thought. The old Howard Johnson which is now Michael's Hotel is a shit hole with seemingly lots of BP scammers. Same goes for the Days in across the freeway. And we know who is working out of the Extended Stay just north east of the 183 on the third floor. Lots of decent hotels off of research in the 360 area. Walking.... I'd look pretty silly walking around with all those T-Shits and my camera. I'd rent a car!
Hey stop picking on my girlfriend!
