BB & Topnotch, Good idea, however modifying somebody elses work is not really fair, at that point it becomes like putting a magic marker smile on the Mona Lisa. There is a good chance the original photographer might not subscribe to the concept even if it is only for educational purposes in the context of this thread.

What I think would be really FUN is to arrange one model... Have several photographers capture images of the exact same Girl, same wardrobe, same hair style, same makeup. Just to show how different approaches to Photography, (Lighting, composition, and lens selection) can make such a substantial difference in the final images. Let alone what can be done in photoshop later!!!
Any Takers??

I guess that I could be the one photographer using his cell phone camera to produce fuzzy pics.
Well done, FireSerpent. Agreed. Clean up some temporary facial blemishes or adjust some light, but avoid changing Bs to Ds or making the 30 inch waist into 26.
The first example has not be touched up too much (I don't think). But I would see a little softer light in the face along with a little shine removed?
Obviously, I see a greater difference in the second example. The second photo looks like it was edited for a magazine to advertise something, like maybe a recruitment advertisement for construction workers. "She works on the job. But you won't know unless you join XYZ company, who is now hiring."

Thanks for starting this discussion! I really enjoy it!!

It always turns my stomach when people use "airbrushing", "photoshop" or "photoshopping" instead of "edit" or "post-process". Then again, people also use the word "conversate".

I will definitely have new photos taken very soon, as I've recently lost about 40 pounds! I'm now only 12 pounds from my goal...

i like the first one better..... but im a sucker for a tan
I have new pics taken every couple months, i try to always take some outside to show current weather conditions or keep them in theme with the season. This saves me from about 100 emails a month asking if the pics are current. I get the pics 2 days after shooting and am usually to excited to get them online to ever bother with retouching. Every time I post new pics I am overwhelmed with responses. I see girls that have the same 3 pictures circulating online, usually featuring an outdated 80s half top or some other clue to the age of the photo.
When it comes down to it...pretty girls love to have their picture taken...think about it.

"Photoshop" and/or other digital software can be used to alter bad lights and dozens of other things in a photo - to "take off pounds", remove tats, and other features is not a simple quick process and therefore costly in terms of time to get a real looking photo. And based on over 15 years of digital photography and editing airbrushing is/was basically the same idea, just a different process.
Dense photos (1mg and up) are necessary for much quality in the work. Then several techniques are involved from there plus mucho time.
What is gained? Who really looks exactly like there photos? IT is a representation of the person, just like an air.
Looks are only skin deep. I would rather hear/she a provider answer questions, make comments on topics - the largest sex organ is not Redwol'fs, hum .....thingie, but a woman's mind or a man's for that fact. The look in the eye belays the process in the mind and creates an experience that cannot be matched by just any old "pretty woman"! Or atleast that has been my experience in the last 30 years or so.

I look exactly like my pics. I get as naked as possible, in outdoor lighting, do my own hair and makeup. Doesn't it reflect on the provider if she is not able to keep pictures up to date? Looks are a deciding factor in choosing a provider, even if you have a great conversation and ask all the right questions, how much faith do you have in her answers if she shows up and does not look exactly like her pictures. If a model shows up to a casting and does not look like her portfolio...its just a bunch of worthless pictures.
