You have the first two things down... relax and lube. The best way to start off is think small! Next time you take a shower, soap up your bottom and gently start playing with your anal bud (carefully if you have long nails). If you are nervous then use your other free hand and play with your clit some, or your breasts. Basically anywhere you can touch yourself that feels really good and erotic. What you are wanting to do here is both relax as well as getting your mind attuned to the concept of pleasure when playing with your bottom.
At some point you are going to need to advance to using a plug. Again, start out small, and also soft. There are a number of choices out there, though to start off I'd recommend getting yourself a nice silicone plug, then when you are lying in bed one night go ahead and do the lube/play with yourself issue till you are feeling very aroused. Then stop touching yourself!!
But only for a while. Lube your bottom up some, ideally sliding a finger inside to coat your rectum with lube, then take your plug and smear some more lube on it, then gently begin trying to insert it into your bottom. Ideally it should slide right in, especially since it is small. Once you have it in place lay there for a few minutes and just absorb the feeling of having something in your bottom. Next, before you pull it out, you should definitely use your fingers or toys on yourself and have an orgasm (or two, or three). When you have had your pleasure, go ahead and gently remove your plug. Then, as time goes on, do this regularly to yourself, or have your lover/partner do it. Become very comfortable with your current plug before moving up in size.
