TSlyC,
I have nothing at all to demonstrate, to anyone. If many are hung up on "smartness" that is their own inferiority complex speaking. If they have this compulsion to attack, as you see nearly 40 posts devoted to one person, what does this tell you about these folk? Very interesting.
I have never ever considered myself smart, but extremely stupid. I have always dwelt in an environment where almost everyone was MANY ORDERS of magnitude truly smarter than i ever could imagine myself to be. Smartness cuts no ice with me. No one has anything to do with making him/herself "smart"! Even so, this so called smartness is extremely limited, focused on a limited area, quite akin to a needle being able to penetrate a pie in just a few tiny areas with great felicity, but unable to enter into the vast face of the pie at all. So, what is that pinprick compared to the area that is inacessible to that supposedly smart person? There is no omnibus smartness. Big words do not make for cleverness. Someone used the term "several standard deviations from the norm" thinking to impress! A standard deviation is the square root of a particular metric, and there cannot be several standard deviations. IN the haste to mock and insult, one manages to mock and insult only oneself and one's false pretensions.
I never set myself over others but do lash out at iniquity. It is your problem and your own internal demons how you choose to interpret my words. That you devote 4 pages to one fool is a sign of the poverty of your own spirits. The charter of Eccie suggests that this boards is to share and disseminate a particular type of information, and the guidelines on posting, reiterated often, strictly forbid personal attacks. Where are those guidelines being followed, except in their breach? Ceaseless, meaningless idiocy, vitiates the very purpose of this board. I do not have to prove myself, having dome so well and often for almost 37 years. Would you like to do the same in front of that same audience? Taskmaster ,for example? You are welcome to take the challenge and come with me, any day you choose. Ithaca and New Haven are not all that distant from Buffalo, are they? I am sure you will be listened to with great attention regarding what you have to say about my stupidities!!
Goodness, caring and compassion does. It is what makes someone human in my eyes. I have found many such people on ECCIE, and they have found ways to get in touch with me. That has been the biggest reward of my being here. Thank you to all who know who you are.
Whether is Ms. Samantha, or Ms. Lane or anyone else, this desire to gang up and hoot in unison, has a very similar pathology, a disease of the soul. Only Ms. Chloe has the decency here to speak up.
My crime has been to praise someone in a manner I felt suited me. I thought that was the right of an American citizen? What does a copier, et.al.have to do with anything? Pretty far fetched don't you think? If my prose style hurts feelings, what about the choice of words and sentiments used with some regularity, with deliberate malice here? There is something called neutral speech, which means that one can praise without justifying one's position, but when one attacks, the onus shifts to the attacker to justify his response.
The reason why some find my writing "devoid" of meaning and worthless, is perhaps shockingly apparent. Your inablility to read and digest substantial tracts of standard English not accompanied by illustrations, or the spoken or sung word. In other words, functional illiteracy, tarted up in vitriolic attacks. Not my loss, but your own savage defiencies staring at you in the face. Not you, TSlyC, but those moral lepers who wax most vociferous.
There is something each of us will face alone, and that is DEATH. I shall leave each of you gentlemen, who are so brave in unison to face that particular moment when we shall each need to offer an accounting of our deeds, our thoughts and our spoken and unspoken words. There will be no peanut gallery, no hooting simian friends to shore up your courage.
