Tired of what exactly? There are many areas to get "Tired" of to be completely honest........ But then it goes right back to the simple fact that it is a public discussion forum, more specifically a SHMB, to which there are certain things that are just GOING to happen....... You will get conflicts of opinion and you will get those who are more outspoken then others.......
You can pick points to pick against any "side" you choose to be on....... does the "lynch mob" go too far at times? Absolutely! Are there more than a fair share of providers who use areas such as this, the welcome wagon and any other forum they are allowed to post in as a venue to flood each with ads? You bet! Does that make either faction wrong? No. Does it make them right all the time too? Not even close. Is it safe to say that there could be just as much harm done to the exchange of information from each party? I think so.
What I do like is that I see a willingness on the powers that be to adjust their ways of doing things to inject MORE INFORMATION in the actions they take....... there lies the key word in ALL of this....... INFORMATION....... information from this board comes from hobbyist from far more avenues than reviews. And those same reviews are just a small portion of information about those same providers........ The tricky part is being able to find those nuggets of enlightenment from areas you wouldn't think would contain them..........
FiH's and Sisyphus have it right one........ just get along! Don't take what people say (or youself for that matter) too seriously..... don't be afraid to roll your eyes at things and turn the page........ The instant you start taking things said/typed on a SHMB too seriously is the instant you need to take a step back and re-evaluate your perspective on things.........

Yep. But I'll be the first to admit I've met some great guys in the hobby, including a couple of those who I think get carried away attacking providers.

Honestly, I don't give it that much thought. But one thing I have learned is that being rude rarely pays any benefits, and it's typically a sign of insecurity. It makes newcomers feel unwelcome. And sadly the level of rudeness has gone through the roof here in the past months. I'm glad to see the mods clamping down on it.
And I do think rudeness has its place. If you like being an ass online, get over to the Island. There you'll find that such behavior isn't only tolerated, it's celebrated. Of course, you'll be hanging with some folks who've elevated this behavior to a fine art, so you'd better be ready to take as well as give.

I'm a big fan of fluid rules in cases like this. Set up hard and fast rules, and you're just challenging the miscreants to find ways around it. (It's just like teenagers looking for loopholes in their parents' rules.)
Get mods whose opinions you trust, and let them do their jobs. Occasionally poll the membership to find out if the mods have the members' support, and retire the ones who don't.

My point exactly. We all have different ideas about what is OK and what isn't. So I think it's folly to expect your definition of OK and not OK to be codified into the rules. Here are the rules I think we need for discussion forums:
1. Play nice.
2. Don't talk about kids or drugs or felonies.
Those members who can't play by the rules get a vacation which gets longer with each infraction. At some point, they either learn to play by the house rules, or they're not invited back in. I believe that repeated attacks on new providers is a perfect example of breaking rule #1.
(And for the amateur sleuths out there, if you are a self-proclaimed master chess player who can out-think everyone else and sniff out all duplicate/fake accounts, why not volunteer as a staff member, and it can be your responsibility?)

Problem? I wouldn't go that far. A minor annoyance. If BettySue posts too many of these, I just stop reading the threads she starts. "Problem" solved.

Women being competitive? I've noticed that a time or two. But that's their issue. Let them hash it out in their private forum.

I'm sure each of us has a mental list like that. I've discovered that my tolerance for irritating posts goes WAY up if the woman gives fantastic head, but that's just my bias.

Hitch my wagon? Hardly. Carkiddo isn't really on my radar one way or the other. He's pleasant enough, though.

Rattled my cage? Nope.
My issue with Deerhunter is that he posts his incessant yammering in almost every thread, turning useful ones into mush. If he'd simply learn to edit himself, he could very well be a valuable poster, but I don't have the patience to read through his messages searching for the rare pearl of wisdom.
He simply has a dreadful signal to noise ratio. The guy makes thousands of posts, and rarely says anything that's useful or interesting.
(Unless, of course, you're fascinated by hobby board gossip, inside jokes and references, his elaborate theories about what new handle is really someone else, or watching someone who really, really needs other people to think he's smart. Me, I'm just wanting to figure out who's worth getting naked with.)
IMO, Deerhunter is a PERFECT inhabitant for the Island.
But Eccie isn't the Island, nor should it be.

So let’s summarize Blowpop:
If it’s not annoying you it doesn’t matter.
2X If it isn’t sucking your dick it doesn’t matter.
Backing away from Carkiddo
deerhunter is the real enemy, to your pursuit of carnal delight.
What was that harm again?

Guys...and gals...who taken as a whole are great...have their "blind spots" & "crusades". I like to call those folks...people.
As it pertains to "attacking" providers...some of them see it that way. Granted. I don't get THAT...auditioning for S&M?...who knows??? There's much I don't get.
There's another group who don't see it as attacking...which is where the pesky perception problem starts to creep in... It's the one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter thing. Shit, I think I owe WTF a quarter...

Maybe I give it too much thought...who the hell knows... One of my blind spots is when I see a persistence of behavior that - on first read - strikes me as rude, illogical & self-defeating...I start to wonder why. Indulgent mods is one reason....indulgent mods is another...

I'd go with righteous indignation...but point taken. I view rude as what I become when I'm tired, impatient, or just plain lazy. I try to avoid the behavior...but I'm human. I fail as much as I succeed.
Re the Isle of Misfit Toyz...I would say those that make the journey because they like being an ass online...are certainly welcome to do so...but they'd miss the point. My take is it's "satire" of this thing of ours. If we had SNL or TDS for boards of this nature, the Isle would be it.

I think the miscreants are challenged no matter what you do. If you opt for hard & fast...it is as you describe. Opt for fluid...they'll argue that the rules are simply what you say they are. The question is, do you wanna mod to the "norm" (whatever the hell that is) or to the lowest common denominator?
If I ruled the world, I'd establish a larger than needed (based on the answer to the question of the level I wish to mod to) pool of mods I trust & let them do their jobs...on a rotating basis. Forces the mods to live life on both sides of the fence....more than once. Allows for some pruning (especially the emergency kind!) w/o leaving the yard looking so barren....

I have asked this before but who is this "deerhunter" guy anyway. If you are going to lambaste someone who isn't here to defend themselves at least get their handle right.

So is dearhunter the leader of the Lynch Mob? In dearhunter's defense, the points he received recently that led to his ban were not necessary. He merely addressed an issue that the provider brought up.
As I stated earlier before the thread was hi-jacked, another thread would probably be the proper venue for some of these agendas/issues.

So dearhunter, the fucking prophet, is Keyser Soze. No wonder they banned him. It's always the usual suspects.
