Unfortunately elections are a lot more complex that a single point.
If you want an "outsider", at least find one who doesn't come across as (1) dangerous, (2) a liar, (3) an insulting spoiled brat, (4) uninformed about the government he wants to be in charge of, (5) uninformed about the legality and tradition of the military, (6) advocating violence against his opponent.
He probably could have won if he avoided just half of those things--but no, he wanted to make sure he lost so he blew off his toes, his feet, and all the way up to his hips.
