I often wonder if deposits truly accomplish the intended goal. I don't ask for a deposit and I haven't ever had a NCNS going back a long time.
I sort of think maybe asking for a deposit might actually eliminate the exact type of date I like. I like guys who don't want something transactional feeling. They want it to feel like a real date where they coyly leave a generou$ gift for me.
The good thing is this same type of guy is incredibly dependable and won't NCNS simply because they think it is rude and because we have already built a bit of a relationship beforehand.
It's sort of like a Prenup...if you start out the relationship saying...I don't trust you to keep your word, isn't that setting yourself up for a higher rate of failure?

good points B3.. but I think you need to get to that level of Provider first.. it takes time and effort to go beyond "transactional", many ladies don't have the capacity to reach that GFE level.. which is not a knock, it's just reality.. a lot of guys never go beyond QV blow-and-leave either.

WALDT. I think there are plenty of guys who do just want to get in and get out. That's totally cool.

I wrote the review quick because if she was in fact doing this on purpose, I wanted others to find out quickly before she did it to anyone else. It may have only started with $20 with me and could of been more with someone else. Now define quick? I made this thread 7 hours after I didn't hear from her. She did apologize and send the money back with no hard feelings. Now do I know the only reason she came forth is because she saw the review I wrote, No... but I am willing to give the benefit of doubt.
Im still interested in seeing her!

Great points, B Three! I'm definitely that kind of guy who prefers a more GFE high IOP romantic meeting. I crave the emotion, passion, intimacy etc. and if that's not there, I'd rather not meet the lady.
If she's asking for a deposit because she doesn't trust the guy, I'd rather she just screens better and only meets men who have passed her strict screening standards.

I understand why some ladies require deposits, but I personally would rather be heavy on screening than to do that if I felt extremely uncomfortable. I try to screen in a way that I know I will have a great time myself, no worries. If I can't trust the guy to simply show up then why would I let him make an appointment? Just my opinion

Regardless of the exact circumstances, I think Harmony handled this thread about as well as she could. She made a couple of short, apologetic posts, made things right, and then stayed out of the resulting drama.
I think when a provider requires a deposit, they are being a bit short-sighted. I will use an example of a situation with me. This was a while back. I posted an ISO and Exotic Gem responded to me in a PM. I know she had a ton of reviews that were good but I read thru them some more and was pretty excited to see her. We worked out everything thru PM and then on the last one she said something like I now require a 25 deposit thru cashapp or paypal. So I then turned down an appointment that I was pretty excited for. I have been on eccie for over 9 years. I have 60+ reviews, I'm on P411 with a ton of OKs. I'm not going to prepay anything, I'm not sending deposits, I'm not opening myself up to some other 3rd party payment system. I would understand a deposit if a client had a history of NCNS or other extenuating circumstances. In this case it cost her my business not only that day but who knows how it would have worked out. I might have become a regular customer, write a glowing review, and see her every other week. But that little requirement of a $25 deposit made me change my mind about seeing her that day. I'm not picking on her specifically but just giving a perfect example of how a provider thinks she's protecting herself but in reality she's probably losing business because of that requirement.

This happens to guys all the time. We learn from it, share the info if appropriate, and move on. Providers do the same I presume. My time is very important so TCB is a big issue when I'm deciding who to see. But deposit? Never give someone money up front. Ever. I think that was rule 2.

So, respectfully Mrs Evans, if he had been cheated out of $50, then you’d understand? But a good faith prepaid deposit of $20 doesn’t warrant discussion of his frustration? I was always taught to respect the money of others, and it’s unacceptable to tell a person not to be unhappy with being cheated out of 1 penny or $100. This worked out in the end, but nothing is so serious that she can’t shoot the guy a quick message to allay his fears, then begin refunding the good faith deposit. He said she initially refused the request to return it. I appreciate her doing what’s right, but she also had time to do so on her own, which she didn’t until he called her out publicly. She didn’t do the right thing initially, however, she deserves credit for the character she showed after the review.
All is well that ends well. This young lady seems to be working out some kinks. I think she will eventually be a spectacular provider.
