What farm subsidies has Trump increased and have been paid? And what "food stamp" controls has he made effective NOW!

So you don't like "welfare" to the working farmers, but you do want food stamps for those who can work, but don't want to work? Of course, you don't see the "problem" with that, do you?

So socialist farm vote is solidly behind Trump.

Got it Grasshopper. Not sure you understand though...

12 billion last year and 16 billion this year... I'm not responding to food stamp questions.

My part in this thread was about farm welfare or socialism as WackoKid calls it.

Do you think our farm programs are socialism?

Boy if the Farmer were Unionized our right wing loons would be bitching
Plain and simple, Trump's tariffs on steel, aluminum and Chinese goods are an increase in taxes. And the Trump administration has played favorites, granting exemptions from tariffs for favored industries and paying subsidies to the farmers. This is called crony capitalism. Higher taxes and crony capitalism are supposed to be the opposite of what the Republican Party believes in. But Trump has brainwashed the party.

The tariffs have hurt our economy. Employment and investment in U.S. manufacturing would be higher without the tariffs.

Unfortunately, what's the alternative? If Democrats sweep the presidency and Congress in 2020, they won't undo the tariffs, unless maybe Biden is elected. Trump's corporate tax cuts will be undone. The Democrats will hugely increase taxes on capital. The size of the federal government and the deficit will grow more than during the Trump administration. The private sector will shrink relative to government. If views of Warren and Sanders prevail for an extended period, the USA will become a second rate country, another France if we're lucky, or Argentina if we're not. This country is fucked.

First, this is not a dig at you eccieuser, I'm just using what you said to illustrate a point.

The Democratic Party is just as responsible as the Republican Party for the sorry state of the poor in America, including many Blacks. Too much in the way of funds is directed to the elderly, who are relatively well off. And to some people with able bodies and able minds on programs like Social Security Disability. Resources should be reallocated intelligently to poor children and single mothers. And how about education? The teachers unions have bought off the Democratic Party, so that education reform in many places where it's needed most is problematic. The Democratic Party should stop trying to fuck the people at the top and instead work on helping the people at the bottom.

Tiny I believe that research may show that Republican Presidents with Dem controlled Houses create more debt than the opposite.

Also I do not think Sanders will get the nomination and I hope like hell Warren doesn't!

You may be right. The last time this country took the deficit seriously, a Democrat (Clinton) was president and Republicans controlled Congress.

Also I do not think Sanders will get the nomination and I hope like hell Warren doesn't!

I hope you're right!

I'm not so sure about this.

Trump's corporate tax cuts will be undone. The Democrats will hugely increase taxes on capital.

As I understand it, this is where the money is. As Willie Sutton said. Taking money from those who make money from there money.

The size of the federal government and the deficit will grow more than during the Trump administration. The private sector will shrink relative to government. If views of Warren and Sanders prevail for an extended period, the USA will become a second rate country, another France if we're lucky, or Argentina if we're not. This country is fucked.

I take no slight at your assertions. You're a better man than I am. I'm quick to be abruptly impolite. No need to preface your remarks.

We have differing views. You make a great point about the teacher's union. They did buy off the Democratic party. A long, long time ago. Maybe two generations worth of time. What did it buy? Nothing. The party for the working class didn't deliver an advanced class of citizen. The teachers didn't teach. The party didn't demand results. As you might have read, I have noted before to give thanks to "public school teachers who care".

An the Republican Party should quit trying to protect dynastic wealth and promote policies that produce more income equality.

The Gini coefficient is at levels last seen before the Great Depression.

We have another one of those and it will be FDR II.
