I see my thread has spawned an interesting discussion which has everything a healthy discussion should be: some back memories, short remarks - some witty, some silly, and, of course, trolls.

BatteriesNotIncluded: I love your avatar. Breaking Bad is one of my favorite shows.

Wakeup: Perhaps it's not cool and not too respectful to post information on other similar groups in the 'open text' here, but we have a PM for that purpose. Check yours in a few minutes.

Dear John: I remember your well. We might even met at some of the parties for aspd members and private lists. Have you ever been to Joe's Crab Shack on Richmond for one of these events? I'm not sure if it still exists there.

Nobody mentioned what happened to Horny Devil, who used to ran a private list. He did a great job with his list (as well as Papa Rotzi/Dick O'Stone before him) and has my complete recognition.

And, speaking of aspd, I think it would be proper to raise a toast (even imaginary) for the memory of Amber who devotedly managed that site. After she passed away, the aspd was gone with her.

Peace and good hobbying to you all!

Major Tom

I miss Hoss who was on the site 24/7. Cynan, Chili, Ed Houtx, Wayward and all the old guys.

It really was a special time.......until Wayward killed somebody

LOL, I was thinking of Hoss, too, as I was reading through this thread. He was a cool dude. Wonder what's happened to him?

Agreed. Hoss was one of the funniest, most creative writers on any Board.

His arguments with Whispers were legendary.

Cynan was one of the truly good (great) guys.

As many have said, that was the Golden Age of Hobbying; the times were great.

I started in Houston fall of 1993 with a buddy who used this Outcall Service, 'Blondes, Brunettes and Redheads' for $170 was outcall cbj, cfs for and hour, although my girl tried to rush the session while my buddy had great time. So then after that I was 'hooked', went to Spas, Had regular girl at the one by the Dome, then I found one on Harwin, then at that point I moved to Austin and I stumbled on to ASPD in 1999, before that I used a local Alt Bulletin Board, cant remember the name but was hit and miss and as they say the rest is History..

Back then, I never thought I would someday be reminiscing about "the good old days", but it was a glorious time. I hobbied a lot back then, but never went to any of the gatherings, and also appreciated Dolphin's pic posts after every review. These days, I still hobby from time to time, but I have a much younger girlfriend who keeps me happy, beyond even the wildest hobby experiences, but occasionally, I still like some variety. Thanks for this thread! Time sure has flown...
I got started with a couple of AMPS over off 59 and chimney rock area... 5901 to be exact. Then found 1 in downtown called Aloha on bagby. That became my favorite, discrete parking, rear building entrance and at that time (mid 90's) the price was 120 and you got the full hour and as many times as you could muster in that time.

It was not Hoss that was on 24/7 it was Dolphin. He worked with large main frames and had free time while processes ran. He would post photos of the girls in the review before the guy even got finished with the review.

Hoss was a great writer who use to have an alter-ego called Maria Maria.

Chili was a great guy. Use to hang out with him and Boheiman. Use to run into him in the clubs all the time.

Ed Houtx was a character. I remember seeing a girl and she mentioned how he had seen her recently and gave her a hot check and I wondered who the hell paid for a session with a check and a hot one at that.

And yes Wayward's actions had a rather dramatic effect on the board.

One of the biggest differences between now and then is the amount of socializing between the girls and the guys. There were lunches both small and big, dinner parties both small and big, happy hour gatherings in which just about everyone showed up. I use to run into girls at bars and they would hit me up for drinks and we would talk. I remember a couple of girls posting that they were going to Treasures for lunch and to come join them for fun and games. I remember huge lunches at Treasures and Rick's that turned into near orgies. Those were some fun times my friends.

As long as we are doing the Memory Lane thing, let's note that Big Louie was well known for epic reviews back then.

From my view, people were much friendlier, even though there were some squabbles.

I agree that the parties were epic. Truly great times.

Holy crap I can't believe someone brought up the Hellraisers! Still around but haven't hobbied in ages. Those were fun times but they really don't last. When I think about those times, the parties and ladies alike, it was all about the people.

That was the revised version of the Official History that Amber adopted after getting some business sense. ASPD was originally the Usenet group where we discussed the hobby way back in the day - when she started the website she cleverly appropriated the initials, then later thought better of it.

The socials were legendary. More like a group of (very horny) friends, and there would be something going on almost every week if you had the right contacts. Everyone treated each other with respect, and assholes of either gender were quickly shown the door.

I'm glad some of the old gang is still around. So many of the noisiest new members seem to be doing their best to take all the fun out of the hobby.

I can talk about it now but every Friday there was a happy hour and everyone that was anyone in the business was there. All the major indies, the spa owners, the best spa girls, all the "made men" would drop by for a drink and stay a while. It was a lot of fun. It was not a board sanctioned event, just a meeting that grew. Once or twice a month there were lunch meetings, informal 1.5 hour events where the guys paid for the girls lunches. That all pretty much died when Black Tuesday happened. But it was a lot of fun while it lasted. It was how I met Blowpop.

I was at a Kinko's before the smart filter days , and not sure what I typed but I think I was looking for Eros as my friend had mentioned it to me and ran into aspd. I ended up reading ten years of reviews like a kid in a candy store and made little notes of the one I liked and it was all done at work!!! My only fear was someone seeing the screen but there were no filters and back then I wasn't fearful of anything. Very stupid perhaps .
Anyway my first attempt to hobby online VS. SWs I had seen many years prior, was PR Sandra. She was a young thing and all natural back then. When she opened the door I thought I had died and gone to heaven, just to experience heaven a little later of course. Never looked back after that.

Oh the political forum with MH, Lexus Lover, Big Tex, WTF, Big Louis Gnadfly, blink, and a host of other posters we had some heated fun with. Of course it was moderated with a very right wing set of mods! I got along fine with Cynan, Hambone diamondjohn, with RIP to dj and MH.
