Dear Spanky,
Does any of the lyrics to “blinded by the light” make sense?

It makes hardly any sense as far as I can tell. Makes me wonder if the lyrics were a bit like “I Am the Walrus,” specifically trying to confuse fans. I guess we can’t blame Manfred Mann though - wasn’t it written by Bruce Springsteen?
Anyway it just seems like a bunch of words that rhyme to me. I guess “revved up like a deuce” might be referring to going fast like a car (e.g. the Little Deuce Coupe in the old Beach Boys song). Even that seems tenuous.

It seems like Ian Anderson liked to play around with ambiguous meanings in his lyrics Referring to another lyric that can’t be stated here and was from a different song, is it Aqualung that has the bad intent or the other way around?

I really think Mary was a young prostitute, who wasn’t interested in men her age. She depended on old basterds for meals. The name Mary and cross are very biblical. I think jack knife barber was a pimp or one who terminates pregnancies. Ian Anderson went to a religious school? The Auqualung album was outrageous at the time. 1971 on the album cover it states man created God in his image. If you listen to hymn 49, or my God. You get the feeling he is not a fundamentalist lol. But the cross eyed Mary , reminds me of Oliver Twist, from that time period, street savy desperate characters, which I guess I’m sympathetic to.

Dear Spanky,
What would the correct ignition timing be on a 1955 Bel Air Chevrolet, with a 327 cubic-inch engine and a four-barrel carburetor?
Thanks,
V.

I believe the correct answer in my best Brooklyn accent would be- “Chevy didn't make a 327 in '55, the 327 didn't come out till '63. And it wasn't offered in the Bel Air with a four-barrel carb till '64. However, in 1964, the correct ignition timing would be four degrees before top-dead-center.”

Dear Spanky
Why do men tend to fib about the oddest, most irrelevant subjects to providers?!

I'm going to say the Ladies could tell some great stories that would leave you wondering about the Male character. Go HOGS CWS.

I would guess to make themselves seem somehow better in the provider’s opinion. Maybe to conceal something they consider inadequate about themselves. Of course it’s ironic that when they get caught in the fib in makes them look worse.

That makes sense, but sad at the same time. I am here to take away stressors, to connect in ways we both never experienced..not to be told stories (lies) I really don't care to hear.
Thank you dahhling
