That was the battle cry. The stay inside part was before the Moderna/Pfizer vaccines were approved by the FDA. Getting vaccinated will help the USA get to Herd Immunity faster. Also, the best way to prevent mutants is to prevent in infection. So, the faster we reach herd immunity the better. If scientists are correct, to reach herd immunity in the USA about 70% of the population needs to have been infected with CV19 and/or vaccinated. For the USA that would be 200 million infected/vaccinated people protecting 130 million who have not been infected or vaccinated.
