Russia's Roszarubezhneft firm said that all the company's assets in Venezuela were the property of Russia and it would stick to its commitments to international partners there, TASS news agency reported.

In November, Venezuela's National Assembly approved a 15-year extension of the joint ventures between ⁠state company PDVSA and a unit of Russia's Roszarubezhneft that operate two oilfields in the South American country's western region.

Hmmm... oil prices are jumping based on concerns of Trump action in Iran (heightened geopolitical risks).

Maybe this is part of Trump's plan to get oil prices high enough to make Venezuelan crude practical to extract (breakeven costs have been estimated at $80+ per barrel)

I suppose he may not have figured out this will contradict his 'cheap gas' stories.

Anecdotal only but in DFW area gas dropped to around the $2/gal mark but has rebounded to the mid $2.35/gal range.
