Speaking of the depth of deflection being "incomparable."
But since you asked anyway, I have caught fish lately.
Have you?
I am really looking forward to deer and elk season!

Not been fishing lately, but I brought it up for humanitarian reasons. I figured you were trying to ignore your man's latest foreign policy success with his "gun boat" diplomacy in Syria.
Are you taking a firearm when you go deer and elk hunting?
Or are you going to scare them to death like your man does on the international stage?

Doesn't fit. Nice try though for a shoe salesman, who drinks snake oil by the gallon.

Seriously? Company grade and above are usually assigned pistols and many an enlisted MOS entails that soldiers carry pistols, e.g., MPs, medics and Seal Team 6.

This shooter is an ex Navy guy. They are saying on the news that he had some serious mental health issues, and was an IT computer guy, who had several incidents in the past with the law for shooting his gun. He has one deadly conduct charge. They also are saying he made attempts to go the VA for help with his mental health and had frequent black outs. They enterviewed some of his friends who said he was pretty docile and kind when they knew him, and he pretty much kept to himself playing shooter video games when he wasn't working. He had a pass to get onto the naval base.
So nope, not a terrorist, sounds like someone with a serious mental health issue who had no business owning guns again.

. . . and, reportedly, he was a Buddhist: a religion not known for violence. So there appears to be no Islamic jihadist angle. "He was upset over a salary dispute with his employer, a government subcontractor called The Experts, according to an official close to the investigation."

Yea I saw that article, and found this one this morning too http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...oting/2819543/
I think the emphasis on the why here is more the fact that this guy was mentally ill. That might be the reason he was honorably discharged from the Navy. Since the military right now has a huge problem with the VA giving help to the mentally ill veterans, or those suffering from severe PTSD (they have a back log), that just demonstrates once again that an untreated mental illness is at play here. I still think they should keep a database of people who suffer from psychiatric disorders to bar them from getting guns in my opinion. But I don't think that will happen with the NRA lobbying and blocking any gun reform or gun legislation.

Hey btw, Buddists are not as peace loving as people think. There are a ton of Youtube video's and news reports of buddists killing muslims in the most heinous ways, and we are talking children and women, not just men. One news video I watched was a bunch of Buddists chasing a 13 year old boy in a field and hacking him to death in a field. Another video showed Buddists beating a Muslim woman to death in a street. Just fyi. Here is the video of the boy being killed it is toward the end of the film footage. Those are machetes by the way, not sticks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43JeovSQNEw and this video of "burmazization" ethnic cleansing by the buddists http://youtu.be/b0W2SrQL97U

Don't own one. I did see one across the street though.
Not a good thing to carry in a free-fire zone.
These days I call it ... "dear season"!

I'm sure you are right, but those MOS's make up a very small percentage of the military. Seal Team? Seal Team members might not even exist on most bases. I doubt medics would be allowed to carry handguns on a stateside base. MPs yes, but only while on duty.
As I said, the only on-duty officers I remember carrying handguns were Officers of the Day. Others might have had the authority to carry handguns but it was not SOP for them to carry while on duty.
If you were in the service, how many soldiers do you remember seeing carrying handguns?

About 50 in the battalion: officer and enlisted. They carried them everyday in Afghanistan. Other units appeared to be similarly equipped.
