I would like to know what God/Religion/Faith/Nuns has to do with morality. With that being said, I would like to know what God/Religion/Faith (Except for nuns) has to do with prostitution. I don't think God has anything to do with it.

Why are you asking me...I am not the one who brought it up lol.
I asked her if she was tired of people assuming she was a bad person because she was an Athiest. I was using that as an example of what one thing can lead people to assume about you. The point of the thread is that many people assume that because we are hookers, we are all bad in every way.
If you think God has nothing to do with morality then who invented it? Most people either do the right thing for fear of being punished by God or the Government, not because they are good people lol.

Good, thoughtful thread starter. Haven't had time to reply in the past couple days, but I'll chime in briefly now.
I think this phenomenon happens too often nowadays: I disagree with you on any one “important” thing and you must be an evil, demonic person. Look at what politics has degenerated to—vile personal attacks against “them” on the other side of any issue. We seem unable to separate a person’s view or action from the person themselves, and words like “I think you are wrong on this point”, or “We’ll agree to disagree on this”, have been replaced by “You scum sucking bastard! How dare you like green better than purple! You must be a terrorist commie pinko fascist!”
And since we know a lot of people think consensual sex is the worst sin imaginable it isn’t hard to see where escorts are assumed to be deamon spawn in every aspect of their lives by the ignorant (be they bible thumpers, extreme feminists, muslims, etc.). Most of those who condemn escorts in blanket statements either have never knowingly met one, or hide the fact that they have met a few dozen but never bothered to actually communicate with them.
Personally I have found that women in this business are generally nicer (and more honest) people than I deal with in the “respectable” aspects of society I interact with in my “real” world. Lots of examples I could give of women who are truly in need of the money behaving more honorably and honestly than highly paid folks in other occupations.

Repeatedly Nuns have been held up as the symbol of morality, yet they exist in the most unatural of states which is celibacy. Had this been the standard for life our spieces would have died out long ago. I am just holding this up as a shining example of the indoctrination that we all have gone through. Celibacy and monogomy are not normal. Our beliefs are clouded in mythology. We are pleasure seeking animals, as are most mammals, so why deny the real you in favor of fairy tales. Ozzie & Harriet where not real. As to the OPs original post I consider myself to be of the same standing as you, and I believe I am more in touch with reality than the majority of the people.

I believe that the reason people think that "since we are hookers, we are all alike" is because we are stereotyped by the image that the media has portrayed of us. Take the show "COPS" for example, they show all these crackheads and drug addicts being busted for prostitution. Crackheads and drug addicts are considered to be low-life, trash, and bad in every way.
You know the saying "there's always 2 sides of the story" well the media doesn't show the other side of the story. "Cops" doesn't show the single mothers who are trying to provide for their children, or the woman who was recently laid off her job and trying to make ends meet until she gets another job.
I believe that the media is partially responsible for escorts getting a bad rap, but I also believe that the other part falls on the ignorance of those who are quick to judge a book by it's cover.

The answer to the original question is ego (my opinion).
Most people are not self aware enough to look inward; therefore, they look outward in an effort to boost their ego. The feeling of superiority is euphoric and is an ego boost. So rather than feeling better about one's self through self improvement many people would rather judge others in an effort to justify their feeling of superiority and ultimately feel better about themselves.
The conclusion on their part is that if one does something that is considered immoral by society's standards then they must be an immoral and bad person in every facet of their life. In drawing this conclusion their ego is satisfied and they feel better about themselves, no matter how pathetic they may be.
So it really has nothing to do with the person being judged but everything to do with the judgement of one's self.

I disagree. I think most people do the right thing because they want to. They do not believe it is acceptable to harm others. Being punished by god might help reinforce that but I do not think God invented morality.
Morality came about from people living together and realizing that for them to live well they had to treat those around them well. We are social animals and will behave in a way that reinforces that.

I think that it depends on what you believe in.....
Also it is not "natural" for us to want to do the right thing. Ever notice that when a child wants something it will generally do whatever to get it and when caught it will lie about doing it. We as humans are "naturally" selfish. We work at being unselfish. If we work at it long enough then it becomes a habit to be unselfish.....
