DAMN! For once I agree with ol' Fringely...our (that would be America's, for you squirrels who forget where we live) strategy was to drown Nazis in Russian blood whilst Joe Stilwell was drowning Japs in Chinese blood. Our forces took horrible casualties, but nothing like what the Russians and Germans were doing to each other, fuhgettabout what the Chinese and Japanese were up to.
America's strategy was to supply the materiel for all that killing, and the only failure of the strategy was the pity that both sides (Nazis, Soviets) couldn't have lost the war.
The history of Russia, not just the sweet Soviet interlude, is suffused with the idea that human life is nothing. Drinking, weeping, and dying is what Russians do better than we Americans. But that's all they're better at.
Oops...I forgot lying. Russians are world class liars. Every Russian has had to be good at it in order to survive.

The fact that you exceeded your original visa will make it very hard to get a green card. You will always be a criminal.

Not in Germany. My recollection (from history, of course) is that the Soviets entered into a non-agression agreement with the Germans and then the Germans attacked them. Our push through Europe brought the Germans "back home" and eased pressure off the Soviets while we rebuilt their materiel supply (along with other Allies) that had been destroyed in their "retreat" across the Soviet countryside.
I realize that anti-U.S. sentiment seems to prevail among some posters to the degree of minimizing our efforts overseas .... but I recall from history and during my life time the U.S. stepping up to the plate overseas.

When Lend Lease kicked in it was a "political strategy" to avoid entering the war on the part of the Administration. Like most "anti-war" strategies it did not accomplish that goal.
As for Chinese-Japanese "blood" .... we were trying to help the Chinese before Pearl Harbor .... and the Japanese had managed to destroy estimates of 150 to 250 million ... MILLION ... Chinese in concentration and scientific experiment camps in China ... while importing Chinese women for entertainment. The Japanese made the Germans look like children.
Back to our borders .....
Saw on the news that some U.S. jet skiers were attacked on Lake Falcon ... by folks to the South ... someone called them "Pirates" on the lack..... yesterday. Shooting. U.S. man feared dead ... cannot find him after he was shot off a jet ski.
Let's see ... how can we blame for the Sheriff?

No doubt the Japanese were ruthless, heartless, cold blooded etc......but 250 million? That had to be nearly half the population in the 30's. Who's estimate is that? I'm not completely doubting it but that seems like an incredible number.

The range was from 150 to 250 million and over the time frame the lower number would be about 1/3 of the REPORTED population estimates .....
I will provide the source .... one problem has been, and is, the Chinese sought reparations from the Japanese for not only the females "exported" to Japan, but also for the atrocities ... and experimentation camps .... the magnitude of which far exceeds that of the Nazis .. who get more "press"!

That's exactly my point. It's not exactly news when someone gives kudos to another who shares the same political position.

TJ, one thing I've noticed. The "main stream media" is a pretty meaningless term. You've got Fox on the right, CNN on the left, and everyone else somewhere in the middle.
Or are you using "main stream media" as shorthand for any media outlet that you disagree with?

I'm questioning whether "the message" is significant, or even legitimate. When the only mention I find of it is in a small publication whose purpose is to spread a particular sort of propaganda, I tend to discount it.
That's something you might consider doing. Question the messenger. Seek verification
Just because something agrees with your opinion doesn't mean it's true.
And seriously, what if it is true? One "protect our borders" group is patting another on the back? Sheesh.

And I believe that was your point. The amount of suffering the Japanese inflicted on the Chinese was far worse than what the Nazi's did to Europe. So my intention isn't to dispute.(if I wanted to do that, I'd find something to call Carkido out on) I've just never seen numbers that high. That's like 10 times the official estimates.

Not argumentative at all, but .....
What are the "official estimates" of the "Galveston Tourist Bureau" on the number of sharks in the water along the beaches adjacent to the sea wall?
Since any Chinese "official records" could not have been kept, and the Japanese had a vested interest in minimizing the "damages," (particularly in latter years when post-War reparations were being requested) .... the "official" numbers are lower, but there was information about the numbers of persons that were "removed" and/or "relocated" during the Japanese occupation.....from informal Chinese sources ... and they never returned.
To keep on thread-topic, IMO that is one of the problems with getting a head count on those folks illegally in this country ...
... the political agenda taints the count...one way or another.
Lately the "renaming" of categories is the game ....
... are there fewer coming over, more going home, or are "we" sending more of the back after rounding them up?
Now that folks are getting shot at in Texas along the border, perhaps some of the real Texans will start objecting to the failure of this administration to address the situation aggressively with action instead of lawsuits and bullshit.

You would think that someone who is truly from the USSR would have quoted your numbers. As opposed to some Latino who is trying to impersonate a blue eyed, blonde hair mangina that doesn't know much except how to badly troll.
