My intention was not to harm anyone. Rather to bring to light an issue that had been shared with me. The original thread was intended to educate any who might have been poorly used on what recourse they had. You are quite right, things got out of hand. They did so because every one had heard the same story. That so many had was surprising to me.

I see the current issue less as trying to protect those who are more than capable of protecting themselves and more as trying to make our little slice of eccie-heaven a little more provider-friendly. I come here to gather intel about other hobbyists' experiences and to try to get a feel for the providers' personalities. I would like for providers to be more likely to participate, not less likely. My best guess is that providers will be less likely to actively participate on the board if they have an unfavorable opinion of the moderator's integrity.

I think Chan was right to raise the issue, and I think Giz expressed valid "due process" concerns about the justice of proceeding in the absence of accusers. The two sides can be reconciled. The process that is due is a sliding scale based on the stakes involved. In a criminal proceeding where a State wants to take away a person's freedom, a LOT of process is due. You get the "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard, you exclude hearsay evidence, and you don't prosecute without an accuser. Outside of a Court, we make decisions daily based on our best guesses, we consider and weigh hearsay evidence, and we generally do the best we can with the information that we have at the moment. Many appointees who have "served at the pleasure of" a boss have been dismissed for even the hint of a scandal. I would not have a problem with St. C asking for Mr. H's resignation from this unpaid position for the good of the board. Likewise, I would not have a problem with Mr.H denying any wrongdoing but still stepping down from this unpaid position for the good of the board in light of the vote of "no confidence" in this poll.

Brit, I have no concerns that you are able to stand up for yourself and your views. I know you have little sympathy for the weak minded. Mama Ginger appears to be tender hearted and trying to protect all her poor little sisters in the hobby. I suspect, especially with new providers, that a little guidance and heads up about what is and is not right is in order. I suspect brit would compete with all the ladies on here for valedictorian, but not all providers are working with as full a set of cards or as strong of a personality. This thread served to alert the community. Perhaps mrH will be on his best behavior for now, but if not, back door communication will perhaps be more effective at warning about this behavior in the future. The thread has served its purpose and will either lead to mod changes or not. However, it has run its course.
