Default 100 Generals and Admirals say "Reject The "Treaty.""

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...64b_story.html

Excerpts:
A group of nearly 200 retired generals and admirals sent a letter to Congress on Wednesday urging lawmakers to reject the Iran nuclear agreement, which they say threatens national security.
....
Many of the signatories served in the White House, under Democratic administrations as well as Republican. The only thing they appear to have in common is that they consider the Iran nuclear deal a threat to U.S. interests in the region and its own national security.

What ISN'T a threat to our interests in the region? These are military men. All they know is war. They are in favor of the path that leads to war. The deal is going to pass. It's over. Repubs don't have the numbers. They need 67 and they're having trouble getting 60.

What the scientists have said in the letter to President Obama trumps anything the retired generals have said.

The letter from the retired military officers followed the release this past weekend of a letter to Obama by 29 of the nation’s leading scientists, who called the Iran deal “technically sound, stringent and innovative” and said it would “provide the necessary assurance in the coming decade and more that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons.”

We have had assurances from the Iranians before and they've been meaningless. Its not our scientist's opinion we should be concerned about but the former Soviet Union scientists who are helping them.

This deal was inevitable due to the influence Iran gained due to the invasion of Iraq.

Anybody who has read the tea leafs knew Iraq's PM cut a deal with Iran to run us out of Iraq with that agreement Bush signed.

We now need to actually work with Iran to try and stabilize the region. Of course those that profit from war are not happy about any stability in the region...especially Israel, they see it as the USA not having to depend on them.

Ronald Reagan would have approved this deal!

Everyone knows the Iranians have tried to cheat in the past. The mechanisms used to detect cheating are BETTER NOW. The declared nuclear sites will be monitored 24/7 from day one. Any new site that is detected can be monitored as well. The scientists with the "G" security clearance know more about nuclear physics and bombs than anyone on EARTH. If they feel good about the deal, that is good enough for me.

It appears that it is good enough for 27 democratic senators. If 7 more join them, that will be enough to block a veto override attempt by the republicans.

You really have no idea what's in the deal, do you?

You don't know what's in it and that's good enough reason for you to have an opinion on it. We've been told the security measures present in the deal to monitor the Iranians. You can google them anytime and look for yourself. Your inability to properly research is not our burden to remedy.

A summary of the deal was provided in post #1. The letter from the scientists backs up everything that former SOD Brown said. I read the letter from the scientists, I have not read the deal. The highlights are:

The USA lifts its economic sanctions, Iran will get access to their money, about 150 billion dollars.

Iran will get rid of 90% of their Uranium ( isotope U-235) the radioactive one used in what scientists call nuclear fission. There is a way for the Uranium to be counted so that it can verified that Iran got rid of the Uranium.

This will push out by 15 years Iran's ability to make a NUCLEAR WEAPON.

Declared sites of nuclear activity are to be monitored 24/7 from day one. Any new suspicious site can be inspected after a request is put in, approx. 24+ days.

All of the other countries involved have agreed to the deal and they are going forward with or without the USA. They will lift their sanctions and begin trading with Iran.

There is no going back for another deal.

They didn't try, they did. How did we find out? One way was they turned off the monitoring cameras. I don't believe it gets any BETTER than that.

Flighty wants the treaty passed to find out what's in it. But its meaningless anyway, the sanctions have been lifted thanks to Obama taking it to the UN and getting it approved. The "snap back" sanctions are a joke. Russia and Iran already are dealing for missile systems. Again, my guess is that one year from no major provisions of the treaty will be fulfilled on Iran's end.

This is what idiots like LustyTard and COG don't get. We have constant satellite monitoring of these sites and other areas. They take pictures and compare them to see what changes, if any, have been made. They can see new construction, vehicles moving, any changes indicating an effort to build something new. Hell, they did this in WW2 with airplanes and we could tell where installations were, you think we can't do better now with satellites and computers? Jesus Christ.
