Wink Dixie Beer Co.

I just watched the press conference with Gayle Benson on the channel 8 news, she is the Widow of Tom Benson Saints owner. They are bringing back Dixie Brewery, and they're letting it come to New Orleans East. I am so excited, not because of the beer, but because it will bring jobs, and we're starting to get some revitalization out in District E...

and you know what else that means property values will start to go up. Yay for me LOL

What are some of your thoughts gentleman? What are some of your thoughts ladies?

Oops Sandbox should be where this needs to go..lol

Dixie isn't bad beer. I used to drink it all the time, back in the days when they put out an 8 pack.

The challenge they're going to have now is the quality and availability of good beers has increased dramatically since their heyday. So has the level of sophistication of a good number of beer drinkers.

I'd certainly take a Dixie over a Budweiser, etc. The problem is Dixie is pricing itself as if it were a high end brew, which it definitely is not. A six pack of Dixie is 8 or 9 bucks. For that money you can get a far superior beer. This could be its Achilles heel. They should price it more in line with the Buds and Millers. Otherwise, I don't see a promising future.

Me personally never like domestic beer. Only one I enjoyed was yuengling. Now that craft breweries and ipa’s have hit the scene it’s really hard for a non established beer to take root. That’s just my opinion but I think it’s waste of time and money.

Default Horse Piss

I had Dixie once back in '75 in the Dome. It was the only beer I have ever given away after the first sip.

I drink Yeungling. good beer.

other beers I like are Stella Artois, Heineken, Peroni and of course the local Arbita beer!

yeah, they need to price Dixie as a low end beer if they want to remain competitive.

At the brewery instead of beer and a shot, it is likely beer and get shot.

I hate to tell people, all of the businesses cannot go to Metairie or Elmwood area...

We need Good solid businesses in the East as well....I know crime is out of control in New Orleans, but hopefully it will get better. Dixie Beer is just 1 thing in a string of things to come to the East.

I still have mad Love for NOLA, the culture is amazing, just a few bad people give NOLA a bad name.

Many local African-Americans with any historical memory will not touch Dixie beer. They remember that Dixie (and the other dead local breweries) never hired them except to push brooms—even though the owners expected locals to buy and consume. Not a smart business practice.

Wasn't Jimmy Carters brother a big fan of Dixie Beer?
