Default One thing I hate on CNN

When any newscaster says, "We are all over that..." story.

I don't think any media outlet that broadcasts the new in 15 second increments cna be "all over" any story.

Whore and its brother whoremonger. Sounds so demeaning. Twat seems comical and cu*t is just mean sounding.

Cheesey

cheap or hokey.

My first reaction to hearing it is Velveeta or Cheez Whiz. I don't make my Mac and Cheese with this stuff.

Now that I read this I am not fond of hokey either.

I like words not easily defined, but you know what they mean instantly.
Flippant. Untoward. Languid.

I hate it when a politician begins a statement with, "Let me be clear..."

It's usually a pretty good indication that he has no intention of doing any such thing, and that what he's about to say is pure B.S.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
She probably meant Bernie Ecclestone is a prick. Even little kids know that.

No lol. As I recall, the dad had written a note or something to remind himself of the date that he could buy grand prix tickets. I guess she stumbled across it.

And dad knows Bernie's a prick, too.

It makes me cringe when others pronounce this board's name as E C or S E, rather than Ek .

I hate the words carcass and caucus. Both conjure unpleasant images in my mind.

That's 2nd-top offender for me. The worst: Those who mispronounce "cavalry" as "Calvary." UUUGGGHHH!!!

I am partial to "syzygy". It looks cool in print, sounds vaguely scientific and seems at odds with its meaning.

"Caramels" stick to my teeth, but the mumbling mispronunciation "carmels" sticks in my craw. And isn't "craw" a grating word?

I like to order certain wines because they sound so elegant. Vee-Oh-Nay ("Viognier") is a current favorite. It tastes good too!

BTW, I generally dislike "fave". It seems to reflect a lack of commitment.

I'll try to remember the "enamored of" useage since I can no longer legitimately be enamored with myself.

Even worse, when one says they want to "clearify" the situation . . .

Irregardless is not a word.

Irregardless is an informal term commonly used in place of regardless or irrespective, which has caused controversy since it first appeared in the early twentieth century. Most dictionaries list it as "nonstandard" or "incorrect".

Cheerio, my love

Parthenogenesis is a neat word and kind of gross too.
