Default martin luther king alienated liberal establishment

interesting...

once MLK denounced the Vietnam war, his popularity tanked. NAACP didn't back him up. 168 newspapers denounced his stand.

He was concerned that riots would lead to a right wing govt. he worked hard to prevent that, convincing other communities to stand down.

once the riots started, the non-violence he preached got lost in the embers of hate.

Wouldn't denouncing the Vietnam War make him "liberal"?
