Default Security Clearance

I am applying for a job at Boeing that requires a security clearance. Does having this “hobby” affect that? Do I need to worry about a back ground check?

Do they require you take a polygraph? Should they ask a question that could be hobby related be aware depending on structure of question how your answer will report

Polygraphs only work if you believe polygraphs work. They measure physiological responses to questions and the interpretation of that data is often quite vague and more so guesswork. Theres a reason they aren't admissable in court. Generally speaking if "deceptions is detected" you'll be asked the question again or asked to clarify. Just stick to your guns.

As far as background checks go, it may be wise to delete emails, cookies, and cached files related to this site. Many people browse and correspond using an email that doesn't link themselves personally in any way(the personal name for my email account is Ronald G Simmons lol)

Social media is now part of the background investigations.. They will expect you to provide a list of your facebook, twitter, instagram accounts so they can snope through them. They are primarily looking to see what if you post anti american stuff, complain about the government or have suspicious foreign contacts.

I'm not sure it's the type of background discovery that they would care about. I suspect they will look at criminal history and any associations you might have with known security threats. They will most certainly search for any radical opinions or hate speech in your social background. They might question why you own 130 firearms and 60,000 rounds of ammunition, however I doubt that they will be looking for where your hobby dollars are going. I'm sure there are thousands of federal agents and others with security clearances that share our hobby. When it comes to a polygraph, not telling the truth is often more damaging than revealing something salacious or illegal from your past. They often just want to feel comfortable that you are not hiding a lot from them.
