Default Making more with unemployment than actually working?

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pai...ts-on-steroids

I know Fox news is definitely bias so if anyone has any other related news sources feel free to post them below.

Basically this article says that with the weekly extra coronavirus related benefits plus unemployment people will be making more a week than if they actually worked

Interesting

It is noted that some companies are even telling people that they will make more by quitting

Let's try to keep it on topic. Does anyone have any relevant information about how unemployment benefits will work during this pandemic?

Because if this is true then we will have another problem on our hands because a lot of low-income workers are not going to want to return back to work especially if this is stretched out

Before companies started laying people off they basically were letting people not work with no repercussions if they felt uncomfortable because of the coronavirus

Why would people who only make 10 to $15 an hour want to work and receive less then staying home and getting paid more?

Sounds like a recipe for disaster

especially with all the coronavirus fear-mongering going on I don't believe a lot of these low-income workers are going to want to go back to work

There are already many debates on whether we will jump back full force into interacting with others or it will be a slow process

When the virus remits, and the stimulus payments quit - people go back to work.

Hopefully we will develop an economy of employment - Again!
Fascist DPST's absolutely abhor that idea - they are fixated on socialist government control of the sources of production, and thus control over the American People!
When the multiple $Trillion stimulus plans result in hyperinflation inAamerica - tanking the economy well and truly - and the value of the American dollar internationally - it is the opening for Socialist takeover the DPST's are planning on!!

Now I was also reading in the coronavirus relief package that they are supposed to be giving business owners and incentives to try to keep as many people employed as possible

hopefully that is the case because I would rather people keep their jobs and continue the economy normally then to have no one working and no one wanting to fill vacant jobs because of the fear of the coronavirus

Now there are people who definitely are not taking advantage of this.

I'm not referring to those people though. I'm referring to the people purposely walking off their jobs

Keep in mind one of the hardest-hit industries and this was the restaurant industry.

And most restaurant employees don't make $26 an hour which is the numbers estimated of how much benefits they will received according to this package

And all this fear has been placed on us that eating out and touching services will give us coronavirus.

Will people even want to work in restaurants anymore?

I know as far as delivery services such as doordash and GrubHub they literally are leaving your food outside on your porch or if you're in a hotel literally throwing it at you as soon as you open the door

Now this is kind of unrelated but instacart workers are now stealing groceries from the people they're supposed to be delivering to and retrieving images from Google maps saying they delivered to the home when they didn't. So even if you say it's okay if the restaurant industry takes a hit for a minute if you're afraid to order cooked food because of transmission of covid-19 so you order groceries but then you get stolen from what are you supposed to do?

I was actually about to start a thread on this and saw this one.

It's a little talked about part of the stimulus and is an amazing benefit to low income workers through this. But as such it's potential for fraud is great too.

It appears this is automatic and is not based on minimum income or other restrictions. Whatever you are getting or would have gotten by applying now is simply upped by $600.

The extra payments are making it advantageous for companies to lay off workers. The workers will come out ahead by quite a bit, and there isn't any negative consequences to the companies(there won't be a premium increase).

This is first hand knowledge.

My bookkeeper tells me if I push back clients who 1099, or do the work and withhold billing, that I could collect $2400/mo while still keeping a normal schedule and income. I won’t be doing this, but guarantee many private contractors will.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned this could be rife with fraud. In at least PA and I'm not sure about other states they relaxed most if not all of the required verification, job search requirements, etc.

It almost looks like a free for all. Sign up and we'll pay you.

And hey get an extra $600/wk through July.

Long term they mention reconciliation, but I doubt they will effectively do much of that.
