I'm not going to stand in the middle of the firing line between you and PAM, but I will say the train ride from NYC to Buffalo is quite nice, especially a little earlier in the Fall. It goes right along the Hudson River, and then across the Finger Lakes region. In the September time frame it often provides some spectacular fall color views and the migratory birds in Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge.
