Default Rental Car under 25 ?

I have the money to pay up front for my rental. I need to travel the only problem is that I am not 25. I have given people money up front before and they have done my rental on there credit card. Is there an easier way to do this becouse I'm not having the best of luck.

Thanks Nicki

Just about all of the places that rent cars require you to have a credit card. It's not about you having the money up front as much as it is about having the deductible if the car is damaged while you're renting it, or having the additional money if you don't return the car when you're supposed to.
-
If you have a credit or debit card, many times the smaller, independent car rental places will rent to you when Enterprise or Hertz won't, because the smaller guys need the business. So in that case go to the Yellow Pages and on the Internet and call literally every car rental company listed.
-
The smaller independent companies offer an additional possibility, namely that you could always try to barter an hour of your time with the owner or manager for the ability to rent a car.

A hour of her time won't equal the cost of a wrecked car, that would be a dummy move on the manager.

You know if a person does the rental on their credit card, they better make damn sure they put both their name and your name as the driver and to be safe get the renter insurance, because if they don't and you're driving the car and get into a accident, the purchased insurance won't cover the accident and it will get charged to their credit card, and that person personal auto insurance might not cover for them also, because they are going to need a police report with it indicating who was the driver at the time of the accident.

http://www.zipcar.com/how/faqs/one-faq?faq_number=4

Zip car, they have them in Dallas and Austin.

I have never used them, so I can't give any details, but the concept is very interesting.

Pros:
You can rent by the hour
Easier to find cars in your area, not one central location

Cons:
The daily rates are higher,
you only get 180 /day free miles
you have a onetime setup fee $75 and a $25 annual fee,
not in most cities
need a credit card so won't help in this situation

Thanks for the info ladies . The problem with the suggested link is that I have a car I drive in town . I wanted a rental to take on out of town trips .
I will find someone with a major credit card who is over 25 give THEM the money up front . Use My insurance on my car now and have myself listed as a driver . I think it should work.
I'll try LOL

Thanks Nicki *Mwauh

Nicki, you can rent a car through Hertz under 25. They charge more but there are promo codes you can use to null it out. When I was under 25 I used a USAA promo code. It works.

You'll want to check w/your insurance to be sure rental is covered under it. Some will only cover up to what your vehicle is worth, some not at all.
If you do their insurance it's best, no problems if anything happens.
