Indys new vouch requirements

First, let me just say I wasnt talking shit about anyone in partucularly. Ultimately its not my site and its not up to me to run it.

I think a lot of what I am reading on here is hitting the nail on the head of what I think the problems are. There were/are ways to inprove the site. Also the quality and reliability of the features of the site arent what they used to be. Just speaking from my own perspective, Ive been a member there for 9 years and back in the beginning the site was great. Its still good but its going downhill. I feel like alot of the women over there have chips on their shoulders, there are alot of lower class providers who are taking the places of the ones who actually seemed to take pride in the level of service they gave, the vouch system works but only to a certain point, the review system would work if more of the reviews were honest, the guys room helps sometimes, the alert section would great if guys would grow some balls and actually post alerts. One huge problem is providers find out about things they are not suppose to, and vise versa with the guys, and then people get bullied or dont do thing because they are afraid of the ramifications of doing/saying something negative. Example would be I dont think providers should have access to the provider review section. I dont have access to the providers reviews for us guys, why do they have access to the guys reviews of them?

In my opinion paying extra money for all of these problems isnt worth it. I know the site costs time and money to keep it up and running but unless I would start seeing significant inprovements its not worth it to me.

Thats just my opinion on it.

I find it refreshing that on this site they may lock a thread but they don't delete it, hopefully it makes folks realize that once they say something they cannot ask that it be removed

Well it is his site and he can do what he pleases with it. That is the beauty of America (even with fucktard Obama incharge) - freedom of choice. If people don't like the policy, they will vote with their clicks and move or use it less. You have already seen the influx of people here. It happens.

I used to visit Philly 3 or 4 times a year on business and used to use BestGFE. Stopped having to go to Philly for a few years but have a trip upcoming. So I went on bestGFE to scout out some possibilities for my upcoming trip and it is a ghost town. Seems new owners took over, changed their software, some policies, increased ad rates and most everyone, including most of the providers, left. And low and behold, some enterprising folks set up MyGFEguide - in a way that is similar to the set-up of the old BestGFE (shoot even has a Pittsburgh section, albeit quite underused). It is hobby friendly and most everyone in NJ / Philly has switched to that site. So maybe that is what will happen with Indys - who knows. But people have choices

Right now I am back to Blue on Indys after 9 years of being green. Oh well. Not planning to change now, i will see how it goes down the road. My concern - with Indy's owners legal problems, and the host of money laundering charges pending, I would not want to be sending money to that site. Even if you use green dot, etc. There is a risk. Maybe not a big one, but you never know.

Oh, one last point. It is laughable though how some folks defend the 50 fee by saying it is to cover the site's operating cost. that is BS. yes, some funds are needed to do that but I would bet that is easily covered by provider ad fees. And even if it is not- do the math. Say conservatively a couple thousand a month for hosting fees - so $24K a year. Right now Indys shows 23,617 members. If each paid $50 well that is nearly $1.2 million a year, likely tax free. But lets say most of them are occasional members. Lets say there are 1,000 guys who pony up $50 a year - that is $50K a year - and that is not including any revenue from provider ads, etc. Far more than what it costs to run

Bottom line - he is entitled do what he wants and if he wants to make a profit, have at it, this is America baby. Lets just not have people believing it costs that much to host the site

Very good points. I will be the first to admit, I dont know what the dynamics of how the site is run. I always assumed there was some source of revenue. Its like what was said, its the American way and its also the business way to make a buck or two. If it works for him, I applaud him.

I also agree with not deleteing posts. Ive been there and done it. Sometimes words come out that shouldnt have. Most of the time I say one thing and its taken to mean something completely different than what I meant and then the shit starts. People need to suck it up (me included) and take things into consideration before its said.

There are several points that are correct.

1. There is tremendous bullying on that site and the ones that have come from it have done the same here. thank GOD Mods are alittle more strict on who gets bullied and are issuing warning points to those who consistently badger people.

2. I have a sight.. lets break it down

a. PHB Bulliten Forums are a free forum (no cost to buy it) Mine was 1000.00

b , Dedicated server is 358.00 a year ( I have one) I have unlimited websites, I can host on it as well. admin capabilities and unlimited mod capabilities.

c. He has not done any significant upgrades like this site has,, there for no cost for programming costs., etc

BOTTOM LINE AT BEST 400.00 A YEAR!!

I have been saying the same thing for months and everyone gives me crap about it.. funny..when a man says it its different?

Legal fees are expensive, it cost money and the charges of money laundering are just that,, he used your money for his personal gain.,. so be it, its his site, but to lie about it to all the members.. saying its not a big deal..

One downside of not paying the 50 is not getting to read the threads about the totally fake providers how use photoshopped pics, pics stolen from porn sites, completely misrepresent themselves and basically make up everything they type, those are pretty entertaining. Some real classic timeless quotes in there. But luckily I have green friends who will continue to pass that info along

Whomever that was, chose to quit paying for the admin fees - as little as they were - or that's what everyone was told - I think ot was a great ploy to get the lawsuit funded. I can see arguing about whether the site is worth $50; but saying that it should be free based on 'principle' reeks of entitlement.

Additionally - all the 'analysis' (and I use that term quite loosely) on the financials of Indys is utterly irrelevant. Whether the guy broke even or made 10 million dollars last year, has nothing at all to do with whether you think his offering is worth $50. I can see discussing the latter, but implying that if he was profitable then he shouldn't be charging 50 - again, there's a sense of entitlement there that I simply don't understand.

Well put ........ There are more expensive sites and cheaper sites. If PI makes it though his legal problems then IMO there is value in the $50. If the site goes black.......... well not so much. I'm waiting to send in my $50.
