1942-2018 Aretha Franklin worked, created, developed, perfected and sat on her throne as THE Queen of Soul. Her efforts established a standard in music that only a handful have reached. She goes to rest and celebrate with her higher power. Her work on Earth done but NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!

One of the most magical moments I ever experienced was when Aretha filled in at the last minute for Luciano Pavarotti to sing “Nessun Dorma” at the Grammys in 1998. We watched with our jaws in our laps. She is the one and only Queen.

Very few fields that you can say someone earns the title she has.

I always think of her in the movie Mokoa posted and the last time I saw her at the Kennedy Center. She owned that building. Even Steven Colbert admitting to being stupid when he told a stage hand at the event, before she started singing, that he wished he could have seen her when she was younger.

When I would head home from college on the scooter, appx 300 miles, I would always start my journey with her music. This was before they had helmets with speakers.
