Pretty sure the rage and frustration on both sides is about more than just the statues. No one really pays attention to those statues anyway. As long as they don't replace them with some crazy modern art, it doesn't affect me. Besides, The Greeks did it, the Romans did it, the Christians did it, the British did it, the Germans did it, the Russians did it, the Iraqis did it, Isis did it, and the aliens will do it too.

If the majority of people were okay with certain inappropriate sexual content profanity on bill boards or business signs, cities wouldn't forbid profanity on bill boards or signs. However, either stating government interest, secondary effect, or simply aesthetic reason in so cases. (The cases are out there and canot be Google so I'm not going to cite them.)

What is profane, obscene or inappropriate is determined largly by the majority opinion of the public. Is it not?

As time goes by, that changes. Today, adult stores have large ads up all over the metroplex. There was a time when the public wouldn't tolerate such signs.

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" was a HUGE FUCKING DEAL. Mr. Gable, for shame! You couldn't say "damn" in a movie before that. There was a statute against it.



So no, I'm not trying to rewrite anything. I'm using what is written.

This statues removal, however isn't a free speech issue. It's simply the majority of people want them gone or just don't care.
