unfortunately there a number of court cases where the opposing parent objects to the transgender treatment of his/her child like that one in texas. I haven't followed up on it, last I heard the dick judge reversed the decision and awarded custody to the ex-wife who wanted transgender treatment for her son to be female.

That's a major simplification of a process that takes years. They don't just show up at the clinic one day and schedule their dick removal for next Tuesday. Just the process to begin hormone treatment can take years. I have a family member that has been going through the process and they had a year worth of counseling sessions before they were even allowed to start HRT. They will have to be on the HRT and actively living as a woman for a minimum of 3 years before they'll be considered for surgery. And even then.. its not a guarantee.


As far as kids go-- I don't think anything more than counseling should be considered for anyone under the age of 15 or 16. There are too many lasting effects from puberty blockers, hormones, etc.
