Default Limiting "Today's Posts" and "New Posts"

Is it possible to restrict the "Today's Posts" and "New Posts" from the User control panel to a specific forum, i.e. Austin only or San Antonio only or Houston only or Dallas only or Higher at say, Texas only?

If so, how do I do that?

Respectfully submitted,
Squiretuck

I wonder if it might not be possible to expand the options on the search page. Let you choose a forum, subforums, and a date range. It would need to allow you to not specify a search term so you'd see all posts in the date range.

I tried that. It appeared that it, and as you pointed out, got stuck on providing a minimum number of search words.
