I recently started having trouble with one of my internet connections. After contact with **&T, we discovered that we were on an old connection that was slowly being closed down because we connected directly without any feedback information as to who we were. In that case no one could find out who had connected or where we were. During our discussion we found out that porn sites and spam sites love to be able to get these wide open connections (we have been using this link for years). The **&T rep told us that he didn't even know that that server was still in operation, until we called. Most of the net connections now require some type of "handshake" when you connect, so that the server knows who is talking to them, or at least what subgroup is talking. In our case the new server will know which subgroup, but it will not know the ip address of the user - and neither would anyone else. But, with patience and several physicals visits, it could be found.

I'm no shrinking violet, but sometimes letting it go and moving on makes the most sense. So you are out a couple hundred bucks...call it a cost of doing business.

Her actually escalating things is unlikely. As discussed she doesn't even seem to have a handle on what she really could do or not do to you.

Playing "Private Eye" or "Cops & Robbers" seems like a way to increase the likelyhood that a relatively harmless situation (except you are out a lil $) turns into something you cannot afford to deal with (publicity, etc.)

Are you Natted and do you use an anonymous proxy to browse?

I use them all the time and if someone checked from where I am at, you would think I had a private supersonic jet since the "proxies" I use are scattered all over the country. And my set up changes proxies every so often. In a given day of 4-5 hours I will use 2-4 proxies which can be on the east coast, west coast, 1 in Canada, and anywhere else.

Tracking someone down is tricky at best, but if you are willing to put in the spade work you can

Under Andriod i can call FROM that number... does it do the same on the iphone?

You can google her stage name and phone # . . . find out all the sites that she uses for advertising. Post an Alert on Each and Every One . . . Its just Fair Warnng.

Unless she is an ex bounty hunter hunter/bail bondsman and then of course she can and will have all that info within a few minutes. hehe gadgets just love em. for when they (they guys actually hurt me and i need to find them) which never happens...anymore. I do however after i have seen them and they left i delete the info and its gone forever. So guys no worries.

use www.cidlookup.com and see if she was dumb enough to use her real phone. I use this site for free to search for people and then take the name and goto facebook or somewhere to verify photos when they look TGTBT. Just so you know if you type in your one phone number and it shows your real name, down toward the middle of the page is a link to delete your number from database. click it and call the 866 number. i did it on my number.

There was a post last week in Houston forum about a guy that robbed a provider. All she had was a cell number and fake name. She sent me a PM with his number. I put it in that website, got his real name in 5 seconds. Googled that name and zip code and had his facebook page up in another 5 seconds.

Dude, if all she has is your cell number there's nothing she can do. You actually have more over her head than she can have over yours. As others have suggested, you can actually set her up for something. Share the info to save others from getting burned.

The only tech info I can offer that I haven't seen yet is about IP addresses. Unless you pay to have a static IP address from your provider, they do change. It could be done by contacting your provider's tech support and see if they can reset your connection or IP.

But that doesn't really matter. Even if she does have your IP, I haven't seen anything that can track it to your specific address. All she can get is your provider name and the city you live in. Your provider is the only one who can determine your address from the IP by having access to your account info.
